I am glad that you like it. After playing almost every FF game up until this point, XII just doesn't do anything for me.

well... i think 12 is an extension of 10 style wise. they just added the kind of battle from 11.

the team that did it was the team that did tactics from what i hear, and story wise, tactics was amazing.

i hope you are still going to play through it even though it doesnt ring your bell fun. i mean... you have to lol. its the rules. ^^

Can someone explain the differences between the collector's edition and the normal one?

Yeah I am still playing it and it has gotten a little better since I no longer have high hopes for it. It is a decent game but I wouldn't call it an FF game. The high rating for it is obviously exaggerated. I have never seen a game with bad sound quality get praised with the near perfect games of the past. They could have used better compression and added the rest of the game on a second disc but they didn't want to spend the extra $0.25 cents for that.

I may not buy anymore games since now they are all letdowns. I rather be bored without a new game than to waste money and being angry with a new game.

You sound like I expect I am going to once I start playing it. I miss the good old days where graphics and sound quality wasn't an issue and video game devolpers actually had to create a good game engine and story to sell their game. On that note, I almost shelled out $287.52 last night for a PS2, crappy TV and FFXII. Fortunately, from the way it sounds, Best Buy declined my check, which I did not know was possible.

Hmm, doesn't sound too inviting, lol.

From what i've read about FFXII and a video ive seen I think the battle mode was pretty much copied, and improved, from Tales of Eternia which I have on psp. I really like the battle mode in TOE since there are 4 people on there doing what you told them to do (which you can change mid-battle as well). But you can also control the main character manually if you like in TOE with X or O for an attack of some kind, mixing it up with other buttons for more powerful attacks. Can you do this in FFXII or are all the characters controlled by 'gambits' ?

Even if you can't control a character in FFXII it would be ok for me since I'm not a fan of 3rd person action games (I include KH in that category). I'm more of a methodical player, lol.

Well for those who haven't played it yet I would recommend that you check it out to see if you like it since a lot of people seem to think this is the best game ever but I do not see it. I suppose I am just an old school gamer. I am beginning to understand why older folks are never impressed with what is "new" nowadays.

I believe it is because we are always moving in cycles. This regards music, fashion, all forms of entertainment. I have already seen similar things in other games so FFXII offers nothing new to me. However those who were too young or just missed out on the other games feel that FFXII offers something original.

So to young people things that are considered different are new and exciting to them, whereas we have seen it already. I bet 15 years from now if they create a Matrix type movie with the slow motion bullets and all, some kids will be like "OMGZ that is so c00l!" however we have already seen the Matrix years ago so it is nothing new to us. I like when changes are made for the better, when they stay true to the original things that were popular but expand on them. When they flush everything down the toilet and throw something different together just so it cannot be criticized for being the same as before, I feel that it just takes away what we have grown to love.
