I have Vista/Windows 7 figured out FINALLY
ive always wondered why i have SUCH great experiences with Vista and everyone else seems to complain alot.
well, i figured it out finally.
its RAM.
Vista runs AMAZINGLY BETTER if you use the x64 version and AT LEAST 4GIGS OF RAM.
i recently installed windows 7 beta on my laptop (3gigs) and x64 edition.
it ran like garbage, slow, crappy garbage.
today, i upgraded my Ram to 4gigs of slightly faster RAM.
the laptop operates 3x faster now.
its amazing what only one gig can do.
so recommendations for Vista/windows 7 upgrades.
get 4gigs of ram and the x64 version. its stable, fast, and pretty much everything microsoft promised, every other version sucks.

o.0 Well to upgrade, wouldn't you need to buy something physical and have it installed?
I have Vista too and though lots of people are complaining, I've only expierienced minor issues with only a couple things.. Though for it to be fast and stable would be awesome. ^.^

4 GIGS all the way! Wait...I need to get an additional RAM of 2Gb in the next PC fair...+_+. It troubles me when once I was using this scilab software, lol I did a lot of work there and poof! The windows just went blank then the blue error windows appeared. The next thing I know...my system is already restarting.
Why Vista is affected by the ram anyway?

from what ive seen, only the 64bit version requires at least 4gb of ram.
not sure why, but its true.

i didnt say it at the time (yesterday) but it came in super handy being as i had to help my mom pick out a new laptop. i was like "64 bit 4 ram, 64 bit 4 ram, 64 bit 4 ram" while looking at all the models.
and sure enough, runs mad smooth. i wish it didnt baby you so much, asking if you really want to do something 3 times, but i guess windows has always been on that path.
i also picked up left 4 dead bc lets face it, she cant be on it all the time lol. eventually ill install it and enjoy the zombie goodness lol.

google "disable UAC" and the nagging is gone
also make sure to get an Antivirus on there. it is more secure, but its still windows. AVG should be more than enough.
OHH and hey, when you get on L4D. my steam name is Thorlord, add me as a friend and we can play through some of the game.

i got vista too, my laptop says it has 4gb, i got the 32 bit version though, but it runs smooth enough
my video card seems to be worse as i expected though, which is a shame, but it's still a really good laptop
and deffinatly worth my money
i turned off the asking if i wanna do this and that, but i still get the stuff when i want to install something, asking me if i'm sure i wanna start it up
and everytime i keep yelling at it "IF I WASNT, WHY WOULD I PRESS THE BUTTON!?!?!"
so, yeah...

Portugese? wtf?
yah the UAC is annoying, but its really for those who have no idea how to install a program and just want to email people.
think of it this way.
your grandma has UAC turned on.
a malitious software packet tries to install itself into windows on her computer
the UAC pops up
grandma freaks out and calls you
you say "always press no/cancel" (because grandma isint installing anything anyway)
if she needs sofware installed, it will be by someone who knows to ignore UAC.
sooo yah, its good for those who dont know computers.

The UAC doesn't bother you THAT much unless you're constantly adding/deleting something. o.0 Right click and "Run As Administrator" solves most Vista problems that people complain about...
Comp says I have 32-bit operating system, 2GB or Ram, and 2.00GHZ
However I've been able to run most things fine... Only a couple of programs have caused me trouble.. Even Left 4 Dead works pretty decent.. It lags slightly when you get ambushed, but its still playable and not bad for a $315 laptop. (Gotta love pre-black friday sales)

|
My country lay within a vast desert. When the sun rose into the sky, a burning wind punished my lands, searing the world. And when the moon climbed into the dark of night, a frigid gale pierced our homes. No matter when it came, the wind carried the same thing. Death. But the winds that blew across the green fields of Hyrule brought something other than suffering and ruin. I coveted that wind, I suppose." ~ Ganondorf. |

hell no, with that much ram you are running every version of windows concurrently and watching 7 videos.
