Well that sounds really neat. ^.^
Though iunno who exactly profits off of this, but doesn't X-box charge for X-box Live, where as Playstation is still free online use? I mean.. they sacrafice that kind of profit for the players, where as X-box doesn't... So I really don't see Sony has too bad of a company. =/
And also, though I haven't looked at the links yet, it sounds l ike you're just helping to give them some power for more research... Which is good but, are they really working towards anything? OR are they still working on formulas? Because they dont' need any CPU power to do math with chemical equations...
But if they knew how to make a cure, but it'd just take a while of mixing chemicals in some sort of machine that required alot of CPU, then I can see how this is helpful...
Iunno.. I'd just rather see first hand that I was doing good and not really giving some doctor more CPU for him to play WoW or download porn lol |
all GPU/Cell/Floating point Preformance is done through a 3rd party non-profit company called Folding@home, im sure you can find out what the power is being used for.
Xbox live is charging that monthly fee to have the top-of-the line server network and provide online gameplay for all games. the cost for developers to include online components is minimized thus smaller features that dont warrant buying a server farm for can be done at no cost to the development team. when you pay that $4 a month you are getting stability, service, and guaranteed online play.
sony doesnt sacrifice too much profit from their online division. most of the money spent on the PSN for gaming is spent by the developers having to host their own games on their own servers.

this. and if anything in sonys business plan is making money, its the psn store. its already set up. companys pay them to put things on their store, even demo's can lead to full sales so a developer is paying sony to put a free demo on the store. thats straight up profit.
the system is already in place now so really the only cost is upkeep for the system, and um sure when it comes down to it, they sell plenty. i mean the game PAIN sold a ridiculous amount, and its pretty terrible lol.

Some PSN games I like/ have: Wipeout HD which is really more of a full game rather than PSN game but if you like Wipeout its worth it.
I think ive seen youve ordered Ratchet and Clank, the PSN has the expansion to the game which gives about 4 hours or so extra gameplay.
Some games I happen to like on the PSN are Pixel Junk Eden, Flower as its nice and relaxing but not for everybody, Noby noby Boy which is a strange game by the Katarami creator, Elephunk which is a game where you have to build bridges for elephants to cross but theres is a demo of this one and finally Lemmings which I think everyones played before. But of these id say Pixel Jink Eden has the longest lifespan. Id also recommend you try the demo of Super Stardust HD whih is one I still need to get.

yeah, wipeout hd for sure. i recently got pixel junk eden. pretty enjoyable, though sometimes frustration. elephunk is a pretty underrated game on the psn so yeah, its good if you like... puzzles... with elephants? lol
i got savage moon and its a pretty decent tower defence game, that being said, its probably the hardest one ive ever come across.
i got super stardust but its... really not worth it. its probably more of a game that would be good on the psp, which it is now avalible on the psp so thats good.
also, i got crash comando and... i gotta say its a lot of fun but i havent gotten to into bc of other games and all. its like the old jetpack game but with more weapons and online play. its a good time if thats your cup of tea.
