I bought the Slim PS2 today
I figured since I was going to catch up on some old console games I would replace my older PS2 model. Man I heard and seen pics on the internet about how small the slim PS2 is, but man it is amazing at how tiny it is. It is the size of a small notepad. Best part of all, no loud fan! I am surprised they do not use that as a selling point, since personally I do not like fan noise at all even if it is a low hum.
I never bothered buying the ethernet adapter for the original PS2 since they were always sold out for one, and another reason was because I was a hardcore PC gamer. However since the slim PS2 has a card built in I may go online with my Burnout games sometime. Ironically I just recently removed a long ethernet cable running across my bedroom tucked under the carpet that leads to my router which as been there for years, and now I have to put it back to link the slim PS2 to it lol.
It only costs $120 now, and in the past I have always bought games and consoles at launch, but heck the price drops are so huge I think it is worth waiting now. I spent less than $200 for a new slim PS2, Tekken 5, Shadow of Colossus, and FFX-2. That is a huge super savings considering that all of that would have cost over $320 a couple of years ago.

i agree, the PS2-slim is very nice. it is well designed, and doent have any of the DRE problems that the original had, not just that, but it is also much more sturdier.
honestly, every bad thing about the PS2 hardware is thrown out the window on the PS2-slim, it doesnt crash, and it doesnt overheat.
i swear to god if the PS2 slim was the original console to launch and not the origianl PS2, i would still be a Playstation fanboy.
i was even thinking of getting one myself... but im waiting for the PS3-Slim, which will do everything that sony is advertising NOW. and cost MUCH less. it's just going to be 4 years before it comes out.

ut oh. i believe it does have a fan, at least mine does, and its just as noisy if not more than the older PS2. it takes a while for it to heat up, but once the fan comes on, it never goes off until you turn the console off.
if yours has no fan then I got ripped.
paid $129 at Best Buy for mine, 2 months ago.

Good deal Thorlord they probably will make a PS3 slim, but it wouldn't be that slim since it would need a harddrive. Nothing on the PS3 impresses me yet so I will wait regardless.

its the only way ill ever get a PS3.. is when the slim model comes out.
yah, it wont be AS slim as the PS-two because of the harddrive, but regardless, it will be better built, and work like it was advertised to work.
sony seems to get things correct on the second pass.

I am not sure I haven't bothered with the PS1 games yet and it will be a while before I do since my current games are keeping me occupied.

with SotC?
man. you gotta play through it all. its only like 8 hours so its not a large part of your life gone. and though the speaking parts are rare, there is a story and a big twist at the end.
