How would you feel about a cash-less society?
Well the only time I ever use cash is in certain restaurants so I would probably support a cashless society (then again I haven't eaten fast food in years other than Subway but not sure if they really qualify as fast food). Some people feel that the government would use corrupt ways to freeze money from innocent people. I wonder if the crime rate would radically drop or would criminals just get smarter on stealing your identity? Then again even today they steal and use credit and debit cards so I wonder if there would be a major decrease in crime.

I think a cashless society sounds like a good idea!
but it would cause a rise in identity fraud and theft, however the pick pocketing for petty cash market would drop incredibly!
i use my card for nearly everything unless i have the cash on me or cards arent accepted... its an easier way to keep track of what you have and havent got i think!

I think at some stage cash will still be needed, since some people can't afford scanners.

Yeah I use Equifax so I can see if there is any new activity on my cards. Which is ironic since a new medical bill appeared out of nowhere even though I have paid everything upfront so I will have to contact them about that.

Yeah, I guess computer glitches can be a bigger pest than someone miscounting a bit of cash.

Yeah PayPal has been screwing up lately it took them 3 months to fix my inability to download logs to provide to my CPA for taxes. That is like the most important thing ever to me and it was the only thing broken on their site. I guess that is why I am in a good mood today and slept really well last night due to that problem finally being fixed.

I am not for a cashless society. I work in hospitality and not having cash in hand would seriously slow business and make it impossible for some people to buy food/drinks.
For example in clubs when you order a drink you have to pay, and it's normally like $7.50 or something for a drink. Having to give them a card might work but you would lose track of how much you've spent (like most people probably do anyway lol) and it could easily be stolen.
Also with pokie machines (slot machines) which are legal everywhere here, not having to put cash in could seriously destroy peoples bank accounts from addicts not knowing when to stop and too easily putting money in the machine. In my hotel lots of people have had their families ban them etc.
On a lighter note, in my drive through bottleshop, when someone pays with a card it takes so much longer to do the transaction than it does with cash, and in busy times it really holds up the line big time.
So though a cashless society would sound good it just couldn't work in some places.
Criminal rates would actually increase in my opinion as identity theft becomes more and more commonplace. They would have to implement higher security cards to be used for cash and more secure ways of opening an account with a bank.

wow, just seen this post..
me personally i think a cashless society would be kinda flawed. take waitresses for example, a majority of their income is based on tips. without cash on hand, tips would be nonexistent. Then the government would have to get involved and raise the minimum wage that employers must pay Hostesses, Waitresses, and other area's that thrive on tips. and we all know how much red tape we had to go thru just to get the minimum wage raised this last time.
that and I would really miss seeing my niece's smile, i know i shouldn't , but i can't help but give her what loose cash i have on hand when i see her.

i love cash
deffinatly cause i can always count myself what i give instead of handing out a card to a person behind a desk and sign for something
and at this store, there was someone doing fraud with the card, everyone who paid by card at a certain desk would get his account plundered
i'm just realy not a great fan of anyone beeing able to get to my bank account with just my signiture
and as stated by the stapler before, have you ever noticed how long the lines can get in supermarkets when they wanna pay by credit card instead of cash? >.<

there are also tricks to get people's credit cards, when you get cash from an ATM machine, there will be 2 people next to you...
1 will look at the code you type in, another one will step up from the other side, dropping a bank note, tapping your shoulder saying you dropped it, out of response, most people will look at him, pick up the note, in the meanwhile, the guy looking at the code you typed in, will change your card for a fake one...
gone credit card...

i still have every ticket i got when i was in canada paying motels, to make sure i wouldn't get scammed, i'm realy not a fan of credit card payment...
besides, credit cards allow the government to find you, wouldn't want that to happen <.<
i prefere black money anyway, something given from hand to hand and the tax will never get a hold of it

i realy don't get tax at all, i mean, sure we need to pay a bit to keep the roads and all good...
but most of the tax is given to useless things...
here in portugal, the VAT is 21%, that's almost a 4th we need to pay extra on things we buy...
and another thing is...
the government does nothing to actually earn my money in my eyes...
