Heavy Rain
You guys! Cant believe nobody had a thread about this. surprised i didnt make it months ago as well.
anyway, the demo is on psn right now, and though i have some problems with it, its still pushed me over the fence to get the game on day one.
anyone else check it out? tell me if you are into it and the such.
i know its not for everyone but i was a fan of the developers previous game so im pretty pumped.
just to get it out of the way, those problems i mentioned where the resident evil style movement controls. you hold r2 to move forward and use the left analog stick to direct you. the left stick seems to be a little... limited as in d-pad limited. anyway, that aside i think its pretty great.
can't wait to see what the game has in store for me.

I'm currently downloading the demo on my PS3... looking forward to see what if has to offer. The trailers and teasers all looked rather interesting in a strange way.
Resident Evil style movement? Sounds both promising and annoying.
Isn't the game supposed to be the spiritual sequel to Fahrenheit as well? Not that I ever finished the game, but it certainly was different from other game experiences I've had.

yeah its the spiritual successor to Fahrenheit. i never beat it either but i hear the last 3/4th of that game were ridiculous
as in:
| Spoiler: |
| for the final boss, you fight the internet. no i have no idea any of the context but... yeah.
|
anyway, when i said resident evil style i mean its very rigid in the direction. you'll see. its something ive gotten used to after going through the demo a couple of times so its not horrible. just kinda silly of them to do it that way.

Played the demo last night, and I must say it's both interesting and amusing in a certain way (which I think is hard to define, since the game plays the way it does). Despite the controls - as you mentioned, Seif - it runs quite good.
The above made me curious as to how large or deep the gameplay and the possibilities of the final game really is. I'm not sure yet if I'll get it on day one, but I'll definitely get it eventually. It appears the reviews of the game are very favorable as well, so that's just great ^^

picked up the game tonight.
it is not pulling any punches. i really refuse to give anything away as if you do, theres no reason to get the game. id say rent it.... but i like a lot of the things the game is doing on a cinematic level so i want people to support it.
that being said, there are a ton of endings i hear so renting it wont get you everything anyway.
i can say this, i put the game in and it has to install like 3 gigs to the harddrive. and of course im all FU*K but then its like "tape the awesome paper out of your game case and make the origami figure with these instructions" so it tells you how to make it while it installs. i kid you not, it took me the exact amount of time to make at as the install. brilliant. best install ever. hands down. ever. (unless you rent it bc then someone prolly snaked your paper. lol)

oggg i HATE those installs.
when i first got my PS3 i loathed getting games for it because the initial install would drain all desire i had to play the game before it finished.
so thats why ive gone to only buying PS3 games i KNOW are amazing.

for real thor, i am loving this game
i dont know if you like a "game" that is an interactive movie, but its really giving me a run for my money.
so to get into some specifics.
im over the controls. the r2 to move forward, im down with it. whatever is my attitude toward it.
anything thing, the default difficulty setting is hard. described along the lines of "i play video games often and are familar with the controls." this is so it can throw more difficult patterns at you i assume. i wonder how much harder it could get to be honest as yeah im doing okay but sometimes it throws me for a loop in a heated moment.
and damn, i just wanna talk about the scene i just went through but i cant because its something that if i spoil ruins it (not the game as a whole but you know.)
so bottom line, im loving it. its not pulling any punches either. like if you want serious stuff in your game, not just some boobs, this game delivers (with boobs too) . that being said, its equal opportunity nudity so far, which is good to see as games like dante's infurno just have breasts taken up to 11.
anyway, serious game. id say ive put at least 4-5 hours into it. the first two hours were more or less tutorial, but done in such a way that gets you used to the game and at a certain points, really drives home the tone of the game, which i can sum up already.
when it rains, it pours.
it being $60 was a bummer but... oh man. if you enjoyed the demo you should pick it up. if you enjoyed the first part of the demo, you should pick it up. if you hated the second part of the demo... rent it.
either way, everyone should play this. buy it with a couple of buddies and pass it around to save on the buying cost. its worth it.

just so cool stuff:
so... i guess upon completing chapters you unlock bonus content, no idea if it is based on how you perform (prolly not as the bonuses you get are concept art, but the 3rd bonus was a behind the scenes making of short thing. boasted something like 172 days of mocap shooting. thats crazy! huge movies get shot in like 90 days on average.
it was cool seeing an awesome fight scene that i just went though with the scene i saw ( mostly) and in a picture and picture style, the actual motion capture footage. the fact that they put all that into just about every scene. well it really paid off. just another reason to support the game.
also, saw that ill suited got the game too. you should chime in man, let me know what you think of it.

sooo. watching my cousin play it.
a large part of it so far is what i like to call
"The Sims: Adventure"
play with your kid, make him feel better, go to the bathroom, shave. play on a see-saw, go to the mall.
cry in the closet. get divorced.
of course, after several hours of playing (like 6) its starting to get interesting. but that intro... my god.
it was pretty much The Sims.

i feel like watching it being played isnt as good as "playing" it where as games like metal gear solid 4 is better watched than played.
its about making your own story man! play it yourself man!
but yeah that first area is a rough...
