Have an HDTV? Getting the PS3?
if you have an older HDTV that doesnt support 720p and only supports 480p and 1080i.. you are very much screwed when it comes to playing PS3 games.

meaning.. 720p games will display in the 480p resolution if your TV doesnt support the 720p
unfortunately many older (see 3+ year old HDTV's, also see early adoptors) wont get to see Sony's much hyped 'High Def' gameplay because they will be stuck at slightly better than standard definition rather than the awesomeness of 720p.
also meaning that your Wii and PS3 will both have the same resolution.

this wasent discovered until THEY HAD THE CONSOLE AND NOTICED THIS.
OK so lets go over resolutions and cables for a second:
you need HDMI to display 1080p because sony refuses to output 1080p over component like the 360 will.
if the game doesnt support 1080p then you are FORCED to use whatever resolution the game was made in (most likely 720p)
if your TV doesnt support the resolution 720p, it will output the resolution 480p.
so much for the "HD Generation"
this also brings up another interesting fact once accounting that the PS3 cant upscale and can only downscale.
If you dont have a 1080p TV, it will output 720p not 1080i when playing Blu-Ray movies
but on the 360 for HD-DvD it will play the HD-DvD on 1080i (it also supports 1080p)
thusly my HDTV Mitsubishi TV will at best output 480p if i got a PS3.

well i dont think that the ps3 will be that good to be honest because the ps2 was rubbish now a class system is the game cube lol
