Gran Turismo
im not sure if there has been a devoted topic to the gt series but regardless here is one.
my personal fav is 3, and then 2, and then the original. the 4th is almost too real but im slowly working my way to enjoying it the most which is surprising. post away about the game.
on a side note, actually knowing how to drive made me much better at the 3rd and 4th games... but i cant actually drive right after i play gt3/4 bc then well... i go a wee bit too fast and take some turns a lil too close lol.

Great games. GT2 was my favourite for it's time because it was so cool to play a realistic racing game with friends. We had like a mini championship thing where we had a week or so to make our own cars. We had categories like 200hp, 400hp, unlimited etc. And then we set up the wheels, inserted our memory cards and raced off. Was a bit hard with only 2 controller ports but we managed. I won 2 races and shouldve won the unlimited one but screwed up a turn, even though I had the fastest car.
GT3 looked great but it felt just like 2 and had mostly the same cars. 4 I really like for a few reasons, 1 it has Australian cars (about time) and the graphics are again fantastic. The only things I don't like about it is the lack of advancement in AI or multi-car racing. In real racing, if you are flat out along a straight and ram into a car infront, your bonnet will crumple etc. In GT4 you are forgivenly slowed down and it helps you get around the turn easily, so it's generally easy to win, still.

well they were thinking about implementing car damage but i do believe they are saving it for the next game where you will be able to play online. then if you do hit someone online, you will obviously have to pay for repairs so using other cars to your advantage will not pay. i cant wait for gt5. im pretty sure it will ahve to come out for ps3. the graphics will no doubt be amazing.

Hmm. Interesting. I always thought that car damage was not allowed because the car companies did not want their products being misused or crushed into a cube.
Also I wonder if GT5 will submit to the popularity of illegal street racing, which every does anyway...C'mon admit it *shakes fist*.

well in gt4 they have the quarter mile strip to get your time for that, so in a way its working up to that. i think they are more about pro racing thought. but who knows.

Yeah I hope they still maintain pro racing, but they could still make a competition drag strip as that is also a professional sport. Like for if you wanted to have drag races with friends etc.

It's sad that I never got the first one. I only got a psx in like 1999 so I bought GT2 which was fantastic.
Wonder if/when Gran Turismo will come to PSP...

Yeah I have played all of the GTs and liked every one of them since basically they are all the same game just with better graphics and more cars and tracks. However with all of the other great racing games out there, GT seems a bit slow now but that is ok I only play it for the realism and to pick cars that I used to own or work on I am sure the next GT will have the slow license tests which get annoying on the higher license types as always, but it is always great to complete them so you can finally race every track.

actually... okay, well granted i havent played many other racing games, but considering how real gt4 is, it feels much faster than 3. with the right sound system, its amazing. hearing the wind pass you as you do 200+ on the 12km+ german track long strech. this is only in the first person veiw which is the only thing i can use. its extremely fast. when i first started playing and with my surround sound and 50" tv... i actually felt like i was in danger when i was going to fast around a hairpin turn. ive never had that happen before.
