oh dear god no.
the system itself i could buy and build the parts for around $600.
im sure everything else doesnt come to about $800
my vote is keep on looking.
plus its sounding like a prebuilt system, what manufacturer?
(and is that x300? or x1300?)
well you be using your system for gaming?
on the other hand, im going to be selling this kind of stuff.. guess i should learn to lie right now!
Yes it fine.

ohh hrm, it IS dualcore... which is nice, and raises my build price by about $100.
but Intel doesnt make very good Dualcore Processors.
i'd say you would get the best bang for your buck with a custom built system.
from what ive seen, if you want a cheep system, go with prebuilt, but if you want a powerful, expensive system, go with a custom built computer.

Thor I know this is a lot to ask you but do you think you could give me the specs (names of parts so I can build one for cheap) of a computer that could handle F.E.A.R and DOOM 3(one below highest setting) and other games like that, which a large amount of HD space (maybe 2 HD's) and 4GB Ram, processor (duel or not, AMD or Intel)
I'm talking like everything from Motherboard to Power supply to sound card to monitor to keyboard and mouse and speakers and even LED lights , lol!
if you could do that I would forever be in your favor! (That is if you have time to do so!)
I really need to get a new comp. My one is about to die and I want to get a really good one for cheap! My one friend is telling me to just buy the parts off ebay, and I might just do that but I need to know what I am gonna buy!
I do a lot of gaming and video editing!

holy * thats a large order. ill go for what you want, the cost is well.. im tired and ill give you the website i use.
get the nVidia 7800GT that should handle the games.
for processors.. probably a AMD 4400+ should be MORE than enough, its a dualcore CPU for about... i cant remember. go up or down, anything dualcore and AMD should be awesome.
4gig memory is quite excessive, i cant imagine a gamer using that much for anything. 2gb is plenty, and even sometimes, more than enough.
as for the motherboard, thats where your problem starts. you have to make sure its the correct socket for the processor, and you have to make sure that it can be adiquate for the preformance you want.
for instance, you will want that 7800GT to use a PCI-E slot as those are faster. so then you have to find a PCI-E motherboard that supports your processor.
if you get confused. get the brand, type, and socket # of your processor and head on down to fry's or even better, a local store that has customer service and deals with computer parts primarially. ask them for a good motherboard.
ASUS makes some great motherboards.
as for HD's search around. use www.techbargains.com as they have some great deals. there are two formats for Harddrives, SATA, and ATA, SATA is faster, and better than ATA, but before you buy it, make sure your motherboard supports it.
though i personally find some of the best deals for Harddrives localy. check out www.salescircular.com and they have all the local deals going on in your state.
but if you want to order online, try www.newegg.com as they have some GREAT deals.
sometimes though www.tomshardware.com has some information that you just might need, they have videocard comparasons, CPU comparasons and benchmarks. etc etc, they also have a good listing of hardware to buy, which on occasion has a better deal than newegg.com, but i still say check newegg.com for good deals.
now this is all guessing... but the prices will be around (probably without looking):
2gb Memory: $200
nVidia 7800gt: $300
AMD 4400+: $400
Motherboard: $150
Harddrive: -about $100 for every 250gb on a good day-
this list is only including the big stuff. a DvD burner can run you on a good day, $30
soundcard, dont bother unless its an X-Fi, anything lower your onboard sound card will do just fine. X-Fi if you really REALLY need awesome sound.
a good looking case can cost about $100 on up.
a nice case is about $80
* cases you will find at $50 and below
with the system i described, a 500watt power supply should not only last you, but make overclocking, and also give you enough wattage for future upgrades to your system. if the case doesnt come with a 500 watt power supply, they can run at about $40 for a cheepie, or $80 for one with some nice cables that glow and are more organized.
ok i dont know how much experience you have. but that should be enough information to get you started.

I assume this computer is pre-built like a Dell or something? Always have your PC custom built if you do not now how to do so, since that price is a ripoff.

Well I know how to build one I just am not to smart with the best or good parts to put in. If I knew I would build my own. I had to basically build the one I am using.
BTW here are some pictures of the one I am using! You'll laugh!
[NOTE:] Whatever you read, the picture for it is right below it}
****
Alright this is the front. As you can see there are some empty slots (Floppy drive and either an HD or another burner
[Note the grey CD reader is not plugged in but it keeps some dust out so I keep it in there!
****
Mving left here we see a 25 GB HD hangin out the side of my tower! The ribbon cables are too short so I put a book underneath it. You can also see my other HD which is only 8GB and has my OS on it sitting on a book inside the tower.
****
Higher up we see the power cable for the grey CD drive hanging out the side! (left side still)
****
Moving inside my computer we can clearly (well maybe not) I believe it is the chipset PC133 (red sticker thing) and my sound card (closer to the bottom left hand corner) and the black heatsinks belong to my oh so great Radeon 9200 i got from a friend
****
just another view of the inside in which you can see the sound card a little better
****
This is my right side and here you can see the bottom of my motherboard.
[Note do not let any hanging USB ends touch the bottom of that while it is on your a rest occurs]
****
well this is like top and right, but here you see my peice de resistance, my 80GB portable HD that I got for free because the sales guy selling me the case did not know it was in there. You may be wondering why it is ha rubber bands around it. It is because I dropped it and the case broke so it is holding the case on!
****
Now let's travel inside where you can see my Ram chips and my CPU fan (kinda) I got SD, and DDR in one machine and they all contribute (2x128MB and 1x64MB). My CPU is a pentium 3 800MHz well 166MHz of the is DRAM or VRAM I cannot remeber which is the number so it is like a 667MHz CPU! Power supply is 250 watts I think?
****
and I dont have a picture for the back but all the little metal slotsfor PCI stuff have no covering so you can see in and there is nothing is covering where the motherboard is where you plug in you mouse and keyboard and UB stuff. So yeah that is why I waht a new computer!
You may all laugh now!

so do i need to pay you ? if not than I thank you very very very very much!
well if I get my summer job I should make around $3000 and 2 of it I am willing to spend on a computer the other grand will go towards my videogames. I am staying a extra year so this is the last amout of money I will get to put to myself. The other money I make will go towards education! College yah! or IDAT. Although tuition is like 30 grand plus books and stuff
I need new everything. I have a CRT monitor and crappy mouse and keyboard. so everything. Including HD's and stuff. Liquid cooling is not a must but it is preferred. Thermaltake (sp?) i have looked at already.

nono, if i have them pay me, i not only do the browsing, i also buy all the parts, put it together and get it ready for use.
im just helping you as an act of friendship and kindness.
whoo.. best bet is to just go to www.newegg.com as they ususally have the best prices on Comp hardware. build your computer from what they offer, shipping is never really too much.

whoooo. thats a good setup..
you got a good point. now you just gotta figure out what you already have..
you obviously already have a mouse and keyboard.
you *probably* wont need 600gb of storage, 300gb is fine, if you run out, then order the harddrive later. (plus they arnt the same brand, so you cant raid them well.. its best to have very similar harddrives when raiding.. and even then the preformance gain is still sometimes barely noticeable...)
you might not need the power supply as most good cases come with one. so i'd ditch that and add half of it to the case fund (as i said, good cases come with better power supplys, so get a cooler case! ) while i said before lots of watts helps, its just a bumping room luxury, 400watts shoudl also work, and anything in the case should be enough. so i'd check it out.
The CPU looks a little on the expensive side. i was hoping you would find a low $400 not a mid $400. maybe check www.tomshardware.com for a CPU. most games arent really TOO processor intenstive, they are more video card intensive, you wont notice ANY frame drop by going down one series (like 4200+ or something, try to stay dualcore though.)
while 2gb of ram is overkill, it will do you justice, keep those bad boys =)
i usually find that motherboards sometimes dont have the best deals online. try checking out some local stores. i find some awesome deals at Fry's (if you have one locally) or check a specialized store like PC club, Best Buy probably isint where you want to look.
the video card SHOULDNT be that much, look for one with GDDR2 instead of GDDR3 that little number means alot of cash sometimes. (on ATi it means almost $100 for the x1300 series...)
all in all, if you want that price as is, go for it, it will do you some great games.
i cant really say much on the monitor, im also learning about LCD's and i dont know if that brand is good or bad. i'd search around on product reviews.
