GH: World Tour Corrupt Save File - PS2

Today, I almost cried, almost.
My bro turned on his PS2, we were ready to play more world tour since we got it on Christmas. It is all going great, had probably played it 24 hours in the past couple of days, and then, it all ended. It got to the loading screen, and it said the data was corrupted. We had made sure never to turn it off when it was saving, and had just let it save, went back to the menu, then turned it off last night.

So 4 created characters and lots of songs gone now, we have to start over. I'm now really weary though, as I don't want to have to start over again. This is the only GH where this has happened (we own 1-3 minus the sub games), and so I have notified Red Octane customer support hoping for an answer.

So I was wondering if any of you had a solution to this problem. It is a slim, black PS2 with a standard 8mb sony memory card. I don't know how many of you have it for PS2, or even still have a PS2, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

My bros memory card is about 6-7 years old, mine is about 2-4 years old. The thing is, it only happened to that game, all the other data is just fine, the games play just fine. Didn't shut off the game while it was saving, basically just a no-reason corruption.
