I'm actually rather upset that there was women bashing going on here and not one member from THNH popped in to represent all that is good (aka man) and thwart that which is evil...
wow.. in hell? that's..really extreme.. thanks arcane haha
I'm sorry to offend, but 9 just didn't do it for me.. although i had just finished 7, so my expectations were hyooge.. Maybe I should spin it again after my next playthrough of 7.. yes, a lot of time on my hands..

So desu ka? Because I played FF7 after FF9 and it dissapointed me. There was so much hype about FF7, but compared to FF9, it was kinda plain.
Fianl fantasy 9's storyline and plot constantly expands until the end. In the first disk, you learn of the Empires' struggles. In the Second disk, you learn of Kuja and eildions. In the third disk, you learn of Terra, and in the fourth disk, when it seems to be all over, you learn about Necron and Kuja's personal perspectives.
Final Fantasy 7 seems to cram most of the stuff in the first disk. The second disk basically finishes most of the plot and the third disk didn't really add anything. It also lacks the stuff outside the plot. Playing the game, I was constantly finding myself with the only option of going along with the plot. There are mini games and such, but the only major one was chocobo breeding and the golden saucer area. Final Fantasy 9 kept me into the game while it keeps throwing things at me for me to do. One big thing was the overall treasure hunting theme where you basically want to collect all the key items in the game. It also has the aspect of challenge to it. Bosses actually have good items to steal and you won't really get away with it as easily if you're not prepared. In Final Fantasy 7, I just found myself attacking the boss over and over, which was just like another random battle, but longer.
Overall, Final Fantasy 7 is still a very good game. It's very impressive as it is the first 3D Final Fantasy game and most of the main characters are very well developed. It's storyline has all these twists and shocking moments, like the death of Aerith, that just keeps you in the game for a very long time. The only thing I can think of adding to it is for them to actually have a fight with the original sephiroth. The one on one with cloud was simply a dissapointing replacement of something I know a lot of gamers wanted to see. But I want to finish on a good note so Final Fantasy 7 will be one of the best video games of it's time and still in the future.

yers.. still, I dont know how Ruby and Emerald weapon escaped your vision of an 'easy game', and if you completed 100% i doubt that you found it monotonous and boring.. Nine was, in my opinion, exactly the same, in that it had an absolute linear story, and the side quests were the real challenges. You give me chocograph hunting? I give you chocobo breeding..
You give me that * card game?
I give you battle arena ( and anything else wonder square related.. hmm, wonder SQUARE? could be a little poke in the developers direction...)
The thing i didnt like about nine was how it babied the player.. it was way too easy, i mean, look at 8? If you wanted to find a hiden item, you had to LOOK for it.. in nine i seem to remember an exclamation mark apearing above your head to flag you in the direction of an item.. that is just like saying "Oh, the player mustn't have time to find all the nick nacks to get a 100% game score.. lets give them a helping hand... "
That, in my opinion, defeats the purpose of a 100% clearance.
You do realise that in FF7, the items are actually shiney and can be very easily detected.
Also, have you recived the S rank hinter for completing it? Not that easy.
The ruby and emerald weapons were not to hard due to the fact that FF7 has many multi hit attacks. Also the KOTR materia and quadra magic materia make it very very cheap. It's just that the battle is quite long. And how is FF9 linear?
yeah things glowed in ff7 XD
and they made that so that players didnt have to spend half thier playtime clicking every square inch of screen incase an item is there XD
ff9 storyline had me every step of the way, once you get into ff7 you really can sometimes get bored of it XD no offence 7 is a good game XD
im sure there where more sidequasts in 9 than 7 o.0
i cant remember 8 i played it like 8 times but that was sooooooo long ago xD
although
8 has moombas....XD so yeah 8 wins XD jk jk
the point is if you know exactly what you are doing then both games could be easy XD
i think i died a lot more on 9 than on 8 or 7, especially fighting arc(which was sooo easy after i left it for a week and killed him first next tryXD)
and the last boss was hard XD
as for 8, wtf was with the having to draw all your magic that shiz got ooooold XD

i liked the drawing system in 8 it's different from the others so i really enjoyed that... i like the whole junction thing too though i remember when i first played that really confused me...
and 7's items are easily visible... which is great if your trying to complete fast... but does make it easier
i've disided i need to play 9 again... i know i loved it when i played it but i can't remember much... this thread has inspired me

It's true; a lot of times things just didn;t happen as much.

wow, haters on the draw system? i recon it was ok..
And I know what you mean Siren, about how the junctioning was confusing at first.. that did my head in for ages..
And i know what you guys mean about 7s items glowing, but there were hidden ones in there as well that you had to go round mashing x to find..
The thing about 9, i think, that puts me right off, is how silly it looks.
I mean, Steiner? really? He looks utterly ludicrous.
And i know that is how it is supposed to be, and that is the art direction, but god damn.
And just before someone jumps in and says "Sevens sprites looked the same as nines! They were both short and fat!" The only reason they did that with seven was just because they hadn't mastered the art of lifelike looking characters (That came through in eight, i love eight )
I think the end of my point is that i like 9, but to me, most of the other games are better.
