Fith's ER trip.
Haven't been too active lately so I thought I would throw this up here for you guys.
Wednesday I spent the morning in the ER for my back. It started two weeks ago, I had (now cancelled) a jiujitsu match against a friend back home in PA scheduled for the end of the month. I was very excited, been working out more, eating more, and such, so I thought a quick spar against some of my friends here would be good. Danny went down with little to no effort (he's only 5'6" 130lbs), Remy (5'9" 195lbs), however, did not go down so easily. Something across my shoulders tore pretty badly. So I decide to take it easy at the gym for a while and let it heal. Tuesday I go to the gym and try and work the kink out, after three sets of bench presses I'm in incredible pain and had to go lay down on the floor. Solution? Alcohol and advil (don't try this at home). Somewhere around 2:30am I found myself in a playground with some friends flirting with a girl I later found out is my buddie's girlfriend. For those of you who haven't been to a playground drunk, I don't recommend it. There is this tube slide that you can put your hands on the top and hold, jump in the air, and rocket yourself down the slide (usually). I didn't recognize that the slide flattened out at the top before the decline. So I jump up in the air and come crashing down on the raised (8") plastic slide which unfortunately was only underneath me up to my shoulderblades. There was much cracking/crunching. I woke up Wednesday and couldn't roll out of bed without excrutiating pain, I could barely move. I called my boss (who is awesome) and she picked me up from my apartment and took me to the ER. According to the X-Rays there is no bone damage, so they gave me a RX for Vicoden and some muscle relaxers and sent me on my way. I remember the doc asking me on a scale of 1 - 10, 10 being the most pain you've ever felt... Solid 8
But on the brightside, I should heal fine (probably won't need orthopedic surgery).
Lessons to be learned:
1) Don't have a grappling match with a personal trainer who has 50 lbs on you
2) Don't work out the same muscle group at the gym every day
3) Don't mix Advil and Alcohol
4) Find out if the girl your flirting with is taken before making an idiot of yourself
5) Don't drink and go to a playground, they are dangerous places

yeah back problems are the worst because its really hard to pin point most of the time since its almost always muscle related.
thankfully people are pretty resilient when it comes to getting hit on the back or falling on your back.
for instance, when i was.... 15 i guess, there was a half fallen tree in the woods near me (busted up by some lightening im guessing). still connected to the trunk but at a 45 degree angle with the other end on the ground, so of course, we would jump around on it, battle it out gladiators style with sticks and swing under it (thats the part that wasnt so good).
i take one good swing under it, the tree falls and hits my back and sends my frying. im completely out for a good 2 min while my friends are running around wondering if im dead.
i wake up, they ask how i am, i give them the finger and proceed to go to my nearest friends house to sit. i had bark marks on my back for 2 months.
also, there was another fallen and slowly rotting tree on the ground, had that not been there, the tree that hit me would have also crushed my legs.
the point of this is that i have no back problems as of yet even after an 800ish pound tree thwapped me in the back.
enjoy the meds fith.

Actually I'm around 155 lbs, the other numbers were guesstimations.
Thanks for all the get better wishes And yes, my boss is effin awesome. She told me to go home this morning when I came in to work but I told her I might as well be in pain at work and get stuff done as opposed to being in pain at home playing video games.
Today is the rough day, I'm trying not to take any meds today to prevent building up a tolerance. Also, the bastards only gave me 10 Vicoden so I'm trying to use them sparingly. Got a cough that keeps coming back today that is hell...

lol, i'm sorry, but reading all of that actually made me laugh XD
going to a playground drunk and on meds XD
that's something you'd tell your grandchildren about XD
get well soon, and that's a cool boss you got...
i'm sure my bosses wouldn't be like that
when i went to the hospital to get a day off from work and handed in the papers at work they asked me why i didn't go when it happened...
not even a "thanks for finishing your work the other day even though you were in pain..."
and you never hear em about the time i worked when i couldn't use my leg <.<
cheap bastards XD
vicodin is a strong medicine isn't it?

ouch. My dad messed up his foot like, 3 weeks ago. It started healing and he messed it up again last week.
so here's my advice. If something hurts, avoid using it.
i though 3rd graders understood that, but i suppose the advil and alcohol got to your brain.

The same incident (I am talking about mixing Advil and Alcohol) happened to a good friend of mine, he is about 20 years old though. He spent two days in the hospital after it. It's been about three months, yet he still has some burning sensations in his stomach especially when he eats certain kinds of food, not mentioning the pain he appears to be in whenever he has a drink.
So I second what Fithosol wrote; don't mix Advil and Alcohol.
I hope you will be better soon.

Yes, Vicoden are very strong, that's why I only take 3 at a time (for the love of god, no one take three vicoden at a time, it might kill you)
And I am not a 3rd grader so clearly, crazed, your logic does not apply to me
Until recently I was relatively invincible, serious debilitating injuries didn't last much more than a couple of days and rarely hindered me in any way. Perhaps I'm just getting old... *cry*
Update: I've run out of pain killers and muscle relaxers and am still in a considerable amount of pain. The nagging cough has turned into a respiratory infection (all the alcohol and narcotics probably weakend my immune system, normally, I never get sick). Due to the injury being high on the right side of my back, the entire right side of my body has started to tweak out. My right hamstring, wrist, and side of my jaw, are all in an incredible amount of pain along with my back. Needless to say, I'm a little more than crabby about it. If the pain hasn't massively subsided by Friday, I'm consulting an orthopedic to get an MRI. Let's hope it doesn't come to that.

Today the pain did subside massively. It has reduced to a slight nagging pain with occasional spikes, so no more worries
I should be all healed by Friday
Huzzah!
