Finally going to complete it.
FF9 was the first Final Fantasy I ever played... but I never actually completed it. I got distracted by buying and playing the other ones and various other games.
Anyway, I'm playing through it again and I'm aiming to go all the way this time, I've just finished the first disc.
I was just wondering if you guys had any general tips for me, like what level to be at certain places and what percentage of health do you need to bring a monster down to to get Quina to eat it?

lol it happened the same thing to me...but with FFVIII...it was the first final fantasy i ever played...5 years ago i think...but right now im playing it to beat it =D
mm i cant give u many tips cos its been a long while since i finished FFIX...so i remember just a few things...but i will try to remember....and if u have doubts or u r stuck somewhere...feel free to ask and i will try to answer =D

...I think the only time you need to train is in disk one when you have zidane alone in lindblum...there you go out of hunter's gate (the main entrence) and train until level 14 at least (be careful, do not go into the forest until level 13 at least)...the rest of the game should go along smoothly and you should finish at level 60...

Do the chocobos side quest each time you encounter a new chocobo forest or spot, like the lagoon, etc.
Its pretty crucial once the Garland is defeated and the Zidane's world is destroyed, so after that you'll get the airship - do the chocobo quests from that point. So you can get the best chocobo and dig up treasures like Zidane's Ultima Sword, etc.
*whistles the chocobo digging for treasure song*

mmm what i did was, in the first cd when u have to go to gizamaluke's grotto, i entered the chocobo's forest that was there...so i could have a chocobo to ride...but when i got the invincible (that ship with a dolphin shape that u get after the destruction of terra) ...i started the chocobo quest and got all until the golden one =D

I got my first chocobo! I got it after Lindblum was attatcked, it's so cute!
EDIT: got my first chocograph too.
I never bothered with chocobos last time I played.
I need to level up a bit *sigh* Lani anihilated me completely, whats a good level to be for that fight? My team are hovering around level 16, except for Garnet who is level 12

If you mean at the Fossil Roo, get a level around 19-20 and you should do fine. Garnet should go up a couple levels too since she's the healer, no fun if she dies

Hmmm, roughly what direction is he in? I'm visiting my mum and sisters for the weekend and decided to bring it with me in the end, but I didn't bother bringing my guidebook, and I can't get a decent connection in the room I'd be playing in T_T
