This is why I have totally stopped keeping up with gaming news due to all of the delays and the time it takes to release a game. When you are waiting for a game for five years by the time it comes out, not only have you seen so many spoilers and trailers, but you are not as excited about it as you were years ago (at least that's how I feel). Now I just wait until I see a commercial about the game being on sale at the store. That reminds me, I do not see a lot of game commercials anymore like there used to be. The last game commercial I had seen was GTA3 for the Xbox.

with 2 nephews and a niece, all under age9, its kinda hard for me to watch tv.. usually i just pick up a copy of game informer, kinda keeps me updated..
as for FFXIII...i'm not really that excited.. after 10.. i just kinda lost interest. not because they were bad games, but because i felt like i wouldn't enjoy the story line..

I lost interest after IX. I'll still buy this one since it's coming out on 360 as well as PS3 but I'm not overly bothered by the deadline being pushed back.

If I was really hooked on the game right now, I'd consider it a very long wait.
But since I - as many others - do not only live to play Final Fantasy ( ) on my console, it's not a big deal right now.
It was a bit the same when FFXII was released. I was not one of those who had eagerly waited for the game to be released. Actually, I hadn't read anything special about it until it finally got close to the release-date. That was when I got excited about the game. It'll probably be the same with FFXIII.

This is such BS! I hate all of what Microsoft stands for including that piece of garbage 360! The only reason that FFXIII is being pushed back is because they want the simultaneous release of the english only 360 version with the PS3 version.... Thanks Xbots for delaying the game I've been waiting for since FFXII first came out! (and I believe it would have been on track for a 2009 release seeing as they would have had to split the work force of the game to recode it for the 360 architecture)

I honestly don't think it's the fact that it's coming out on both consoles. There are more games released on multiple platforms which are done by the original deadline then there are ones which have been pushed back.

Yes but usually those games are for both consoles from the start. The only exception I could think of was GTAIV but Rockstar has like 3 different companies (Rockstar, Rockstar North... I think there is one more) Squeenix only has Squeenix... This was a game that lost it's PS3 only title like 5 or so months before the end of 2008. The game is stated to have a simultaneous launch for both PS3 and (now) Xbox360 for english countries... Depending on how the big the game is 360 is going to have to have multi discs (which is more time for writing new code) and the 2 architectures are widely different.
I believe it there would have definitely been a release date for 2009 had Microsoft not wormed their way into the FF franchise until FFXIV. They had to delay FFverusXIII because they needed programmers to help now that they need it to be on the 360... Basically they are porting it to the 360 so the PS3 version is to be done 1st.

Yeah, I was a die hard gamer until Microsoft joined the scene and began taunting Sony on their console's power. This also divided gamers and created Sony trolls and Xbox trolls to attack one another. I bet if MS never entered the console market, the PS3 would have launched at $299 with the power a little greater than the Gamecube. It still would have provided good graphics and amazing gameplay instead of a $600 PC. I know some gamers would argue that they like that their game console can stream movies and all, but that is what PCs are for. The Dreamcast was able to do this because it also offered good gaming at a cheap price, whereas the Xbox and Sony added those PC features and focused too much on them while jacking up the price.

Yeah my post could be seen as a PS3 fanyboy post but I actually enjoy games on all different consoles as well as computer (especially computer). But MS just throws around the loads of dough they have to screw over competition. Some new innovative computer software gets bought out by MS and the the company is gone and never heard from again...
They are messing up what is means to make games (Sony and Nintendo didn't really bash each other when their consoles were competing well not to the degree MS does[subversively])
