wow. that amazing. in terms of pointlessness. yes ffVII is great. and many of us think it is the greatest, but there are other topics that cover this with more detail. like explaining why it is great and so on. look around more ^-^ oh and welcome to the site.

Well I think FF7 is the greatest because It had the best storyline in ages, The characters were cool (Exept for cait sith), and I reckon the boss fights were the hardest ever with cool music might I add. What do you think?

lol. oh man. good call shot.
anyway. ive prolly said this in like 5 other topics, but oh well. musically, ff7 was fantastic. its characters had more depth than any other final fantasy to date, and it captivated its audience, who it was. ff7 made me a gamer, and im sure it made others want to make games. we can only be so lucky to be the generation that has grown up with final fantasy 7. many generations from here on will not know the joy it brought and its greatness will be lost on them. we must keep it alive. ive seen ppl already saying they cant find copies of it to buy. this means we have to keep out cds in great condition. my future childrens first video game will be final fantasy 7. end of story.

Musically ff7 was fantastic.
The characters had less depth than ff6
It captivated a dying audience who thought rpgs were at the end of their creative days and it didn't save it.
FF7 was one of the last few great creative rpgs who step into the mainstream until most rpgs opted for better graphics or story and less gameplay and character development.
In that sense, because it was the cream of the crop of an ideal time, it is still heralded as one of the great rpgs. Yet it's sin is putting rpgs into the mainstream making rpgs less a matter of creativity and more a matter of sales
I think growing up in a generation of ff7 is unlucky because then we are not able to appreciate all the other earlier ffs and we tend to be a graphics over gameplay type of person.
I disagree, this just means we have to support BT and keep our torrents of ff7 open at all times and no, to those who don't know, keeping our torrents alive isn't piracy.
In short, ff7 isn't the best RPG ever because it hasn't stood the test of time like chrono trigger and hopefully xenogears. No FFs had ever withstood the test of time if I remember correctly because it catered most to the current generation instead of all generation and because of that it wasn't unique for the next generation

interesting, since there talking about remaking FFVII in the ps3 with shiney new graphics, so my plan of action will be, to grab two tv's my ps1/ps2 and then hook the ps3 up to the other tv, and play them both at the same time to make sure its all precise and lives up to the name that is FFVII

It's not hard just keep leveling up and use a stradegy guide... I have 100% as well and maxed out every single stat for all characters.
