i sorta laughed when the news called fidel a "President" it would imply he was elected 
as for bush, i think he needs to shut up before he knows what actually happens in a country
i once heard people talk that had been to Cuba, they said everyone lived poor, but one of the tourists also said that everyone there was happy... they were all smiling
it should indeed be a bit better, because the cubans couldn't accept any gifts from tourists as a tip, but how many people living in a democaratic country are still happy these days?
the poor ones? no, they only get angry at the people living better, and get angry at themselves for not beeing able to reach it...
is it the rich people? nope, cause once they get rich they will reach a status, and doing something fun will be wasting money or not meant for people of their "class"
and the only thing going on in the minds of rich people is: "How can i change 1 milion to 5 milion with the least effort possible?"
i remember shandy saying things were better in her country when it still belonged to the soviet union...
everyone at least had a job, which means food and shelter...
so i deffinatly think democracy is overrated, and forcing it to another country is wrong... people should ask the other people what they want instead of forcing it...
but yes, it's good he's going away, he has been the longest leader of a country ever i think...
