Fang never really struck me as having an Aussie accent, sounded closer to cockney :/.
Anyway, enemy bosses are taking a bit of a spike, I'm on ch. 7 (near the end of ch i think) and the last boss had 378k HP.... I'm now finding it next to impossible to kill something without stagger lol.
I liked Cim's post. I was gonna make a topic about what we thought of the characters, so...Moswell do it here lol
I like Lightning a lot. She is similar to Cloud but with oestrogen added. Don't understand her tiny cape though lol.
Sazh is very likeable. I like his attitude and his chocobo. He also has a very good voice actor.
Snow is the captain of the douchebags in my opinion. He reminds me of Tidus but with a less-whiney voice, and that he wears a beanie for some reason. I will try not to include him in my party lol. I think they picked the wrong voice actor for the guy too.
I kind of like Hope. He seems pretty normal, and I think ads some sense of realism to the group. And wears proper clothes. He has by far the most accurate voice actor, kind of a nasal voice but it fits him perfectly. (Reminds me a bit of McLovin from superbad)
Vanille is definitely the Rikku of the bunch. I read that some reviewers hated her accent but I'm used to it XD very whiney. There's always a girl like this in jrpg's.
Fang is someone I've only just met. She seems like a Female Vincent...Sort of knows what's going on and looks tough.
But overall I like how the group met. Sort of get the feeling they were watching some reality tv to get a good idea of what most groups should contain, they're all pretty different. The last think I don't know is, where the hell are they going?
Hidden:
when they landed in the frozen lake, they just started walking to evade detection, but where to?
Another thing is, it would be nice to have a world map to look at. I hope there is one later.
Anubis is right about the level up system. It reminded me of a sphere grid as well, but it's a lot simpler and easier to navigate, albeit in 3D.
That may just be because you are the head of the Funender Garden, and I played 2 professor characters, so you seem like my boss now permanently in my mind. XD
I just bought this earlier today, gotta say, so far I've noticed a lot of references to previous FFs in particular the very beginning of the game. Train ride, ex soldier, black guy with guns, giant robot scorpion...sound familiar? this isn't a stab, I like it.
The battle system is obviously very different, i find that its much more tactical with the paradigm system. battles have become more about how you set up your party and where you choose to do paradigm changes instead of should i attack or use magic becasue once you use libra (or fight a particular enemy enough times) the game makes that decision for you. It's a change that's growing on me, I like it.
Hm-hm. Didn't get to play the game today (was way too busy with other stuff - even it sounds unlikely when we are talking about Final Fantasy XIII ) but I can't wait to continue where I left off. Things are getting more and more interesting. Too, I noticed something interesting yesterday, in terms of a certain character;
Spoiler:
The game's Cid Raines reminds me an awful lot about Rufus Shinra and not just in the physical department... heck, when first encountered in the game, he almost quotes Rufus' logic from the moment in FFVII where Tifa and Barret are about to be executed:
Cid [to Snow]: "The public fears what it doesn't know... Strike down the phantoms before their eyes, and they sleep like babes."
Rufus [to Tifa and Barret]: "People are ignorant. They'll feel better as long as someone is punished."
Yeah I know... pretty vague. But still. Interesting theme and reason, eh?

Did anyone noticed the throw back to FFXI or FFIII? In the town name Palumpolum? The 2 magic user kids? Thought that was pretty good! Going to play a crap load tonight. I hope there is more substance to the game... To me it feels like an empty shell, very nice looking shell but empty. No towns, no side-quests, no leader/team changing, level caps to storyline, retry option... These things are not to my fancy, though the retry has saved me a couple of times. (I am only 14 hours in but I mean FFVII)
RIP Kurt von D. Father figure to me, friend, and all around good human being. (July 22nd, 2010).
