So... I wasn't that big a fan of FFXIII, but apparently a sequel is on the way, Squeenix must be busy nowadays. Also, Agito is now FF:Type:0

I just watched the Type 0 japanese trailer on the site. looks kinda like Crisis Core.

you mean like... a hack n slash RPG?
most of those that i have played end up too.....simple? in combat terms compared to most other FF games which at least require a bit more skill than xxx or x triangle X or long/short range
unless you mean something else then youll have to explain it to me Xd

I have to agree with this. I might not have liked XIII a whole lot, but I will so totally throw the disc out the window if they * it up that bad.
Actually, I'd rather them go back to turn based combat. My entire issue with the newer FF combat systems is that Square is leaning towards making it an action RPG, but they refuse to actually do it. So we end up with some sort of fast paced pseudo-turnbased.... thing. XIII had everything to make it an action RPG except for the main ingredient, which is direct control over your characters movements. If I could have manually moved around my controlled character with the left stick, I would have ADORED XIII.

I dont mind the battle system as it is...but I also liked the complete turn based games...so even if they went back I'd be totally fine with it...because as arc said hack and slash crap ends up too simple...there might be button combinations but you hardly have to use any of them or you can fall back to just one or its just one button mash XD

explain what fighter is then XD
and for the battles in FF13 which required thinking, skill and timing, it doesnt strike me as worse than any other battle system XD you mean the whole game being like a movie or just the battles?

According to the director of FFXIII-2, the battle system's going to be based off of, and'll be an 'improved version' of the original game's battle system.
So who knows, we may just see paradigms again.
Which I really don't mind. XD
Also in about a week, we should know if the game'll be out before the year's over.
Big possibility for that.

I think that the battles are flashy enough to have a more manual based attack. Unlike previous versions (FF9 for example) who had just one main function per character, FF13 actually ahd the potential for at least a semi-controlled attack. A hack and slash's only "control" would be timing of the attack, all other movements are automatic. In a fighting game, different directional keys mixed with attack keys generate completely different moves. Now I'm not saying they should make the game motion sensative relative to the cahracter's arms, but really have some more ways of attacking than just the default.
