Well I think, because it was a while ago that I did it, it is when you have to go to Luca for a mission and then you face in the tournament for the championship. It is different than FFX in that you assign points to everyone and then hit practice and then their stats may go up but not always and they may get injured and have to sit out for like 6 games. Then when you are in a match, all you can do is watch and put up the adrenaline level and they make all the decisions for you, you can't do one thing.
