FFVIII Challenge
I'm about to replay FFVIII for the first time in a long time, and I've decided to undertake it on one of the challenges, to make it really difficult.
I'm thinking either a No Junction challenge, or a Squall only challenge.
Which one would probably be more challenging yet also fun?

Probably no junction would be the most difficult, though I made it to the end of disc 3 before on very limited magic (basically just some fires, blizzards, and thunders). I don't think you can do Squall only though, as I'm pretty sure if you can, you have to have 3 party members.

Well, what you'd do is kill off the other members at the beginning of battle if they were alive.
And yes, I'm doing No Junction (No GF) now. And so far so good (Ifrit)

If you want more challenge then go for No Junction challenge, Only Squall challenge is too easy (you just have to kill the other two party members, and keep them always at 0 HP). But it cannot be said as Only Squall since there's part where we get to use Laguna with Squall's stats, so eventually you'll use Laguna (but if we consider that as Squall, its fine ^^). Squall alone can take every battle, except the weapon in Ultimecia's castle..
Its possible for No Junction challenge, I support you! Go for it, the only thing I can think of is the race against time. If you kept wasting time levelling up, the monsters around you will be extra strong since they gain more advantages in term of stats as they level up with your characters...and since you can't use junction, its a handicapped situation. I recommend keeping Squall, Quistis and Irvine or Selphie. Squall with all the offensive, Quistis with her limit break (Degenerator for normal monsters), Irvine or Selphie for supportive.

Yeah. I've decided to use Squall, Quistis and Selphie.
Selphie's really essential because she's the only way I'm going to be able to use efficient healing methods.
However, I will NOT use The End at any time, I think that's kind of a cheap way out.
BTW, leveling up is somewhat necessary because you do need to have higher stats and HP.
And if you use Selphie's stronger magic it's not really a problem.
I'm almost to the point off to Timber now, so this will be interesting

i say no junction im almost 100% sure u can not play with just one party member on a large part of the game.

so...did u beat the game? xD....first time i played final fantasy VIII, i could only speak in spanish.....so i didnt understand half of the game, and when quistis explained me how to juncion magic and all of that...i didnt get a thing, so i played without junctioning magic....i learned how to junction GF by luck...but i didnt junction magic and i got only till the end of the second CD (Y)...cos i didnt have the third or the fourth one xD

FFIX or FFVIII? I want to attempt at least one before the summer ends

I assume LLG stands for low level or something like that? I would say 9 but I didn't beat 8 so I have no clue how hard it gets...

No junction... DeadCloud, you are a beast. The junction system is reason #1 that VIII is my favorite final fantasy. Even more so than the storyline, which is really saying something because the story line is awesome.
