I think they are. I still don't think that there should be a re-make. The only thing that could be improved for me is the graphics and they don't matter anywhere near as much as anything else.

It is only rumored and they are going back and forth denying and then not commenting on another possible production. It sounds like just a media gimmick to generate fake hype which is what gaming has resorted to this gen. I don't even bother following the gaming news now since you are not sure what to believe. They would hype up a game to be the best ever and when you wait four years to get it the game turns out to be sub par.

I thought they had finally confirmed that they were re-making FF VII for PS3. Actually that was just a rumor I heard at College so that's probably not even true.

There was a rumoured FFVII title announced which may have even been a sequel.
I reckon there will be a remake of the game after FFXIII is released however its very tough for Square what they do in the remake. Is it just the graphics people want improved or are they going to redo the entire battle system. Im sure it will just end up disapointing some people and ruin the experience of the original. Doesen't bother me too much though id rather see a remake of FFVIII.

There will be no remake of FF7. It was confirmed that they were just using it to show off the PS3 graphics.
It would probably ruin FF7 if they remade it though.

its still a bit too early for a remake, im sure that around the end of this generation they may may it, the only time that square will have a remake will be when theres no oppritunity to buy FF VII at all, for instance once the "PS4" comes out there probably wont be any reverse compatitlbity, and there fore becase FF VII is so old they will then create a remake, however i dont belive it will have revamp graphic like everyone belives. it will probly highly polished up for it to look slightly better than usuall. not only that but by that time comes they will create a remake of FF VIII and IX as well, kinda like repeating the same trend that the orginal final fantaies did, until then, theres really not a big reason to actully create a remake. Its better to just focus on the future rather than looking to the past.

i dont think they will w8 tht long if they r gonna remake it....there would be reason to release it because half the people who have ps3s now would probabl be 13 or 14 wen the remake would be out which would mean tht they never could play ti on ps1 and they wouldnt bother because all the kids are begining to care about is grafix

Yeah the generation that was into FFVII is getting older now. I mean it came out when I was a sophomore in highschool. Now I'm a senior in college. By the time they could release a remake it would be too late to cash in on that generations nostalgia.

I have personally played and beaten it. The only hard part, is buying it anymore. To buy a crappy used copy from amazon, it is still $60 plus S+H. Very expensive for game so old. I don't mind graphics though. If it were to come out today, I would expect great graphics, but since it came out almost 10 years ago, it is fine. If people were really so intent on good graphics, then why would so many people be buying the old games off of the Wii virtual console? The world isn't as graphically inclined as a lot of people think, but it is getting there. There are few things keeping people hooked on the originals.

I'm sure they will remake it, but it will be because they know they'll make tons and tons of money off of it. The problem is consumers get disenfranchised when companies sell out. So if i was square, I would be extremely careful about modifying the story in any way.

yeah true, all they need to do is add materia and dungeons and bosses and there set prtty much.
