FF7 Watered down?
I for one am a fan of the original Final Fantasy Seven. But who amongst you here thinks as I do, that with the expansion of this product, the story has been severely watered down. Maybe its just me, but when I play FF7 I had gotten a mystical feeling that I could relate only to this game. It was gold - Fighting in this rebellion group called AVALANCHE against this corporation Shenra. The environments, The characters, all great. Then came Advent Children, Then I seen Cloud in KH, then Crisis Core, Then the Vincent game and on and on, maybe the voice actors just suck? But the same feeling I got fighting Seph in the game I didn't get watching in the movie.
P.S He's hot, sure, but lets face it, who in the blue hell is kadaj? he sucks

I agree...wish they'd leave ff7 alone to be honest...yeah it was a great game...and it should have stayed on its own a great game...most of the spinoffs suck...cant hold a feather to it...Its all a money game I assume...but I still wish they'd leave it alone XD

I just think the original feel is gone...games maybe fun, but the excitment just isn't there like it was, hell no Final Fantasy after 8 has really gotten the feeling of a REAL RPG Final Fantasy game, 13 lacks substance to me, so do the spin offs to seven, thats all.

I disagree with this completely.
FF9 was closer to the origin of proper rpgs than any other game in the series imo. Admittedly FFX strayed from proper rpgness, but I felt that it was a solid and entertaining game. From there on however, I can agree that the Final Fantasy series failed to produce a proper rpg, up until the recent Final Fantasy Type-0 that is, which I'm sure I'm the only one here who has played it, seeing as how it's yet to be localized.

All I'm saying is that at this point we can all agree that square enix needs to get it together and hire a good team of story writers so this can be fun again, and invoke the kind of excitment it used to. The Kingdom Hearts feel (Not that KH is a bad game) has strayed FF away. I'm ready for a real come back, never before have a seen so many spin offs and sequals in the FF genere then now, its like they can't come up with anything.
Come on.

Hopefully Type-0 will be localized soon so that non-importers can have this comeback.
Also, spinoffs are not necessarily a bad thing if they are handled well, but I can agree that Square is too focused on quantity over quality atm, which is drowning their beloved series in a bunch of silliness and bad scripting.

Thats all I'm trying to say. I just think the special feeling is gone from the series, and I don't like it, I want it back, I want it to be better like I know it can be. I want the substance.....for example the original FF7...
Your about to break into the shinra building for the first time, you got Barret on one side..."Screw that lets bust in face first" you have tifa on the other, "NO, we need to play it smart!" and you need to chose one.
Love those kinds of moments

tbh, I'm surprised. I'm the only importer I know, and I'm pretty well acquainted with a large portion of the active members of this forum.
That said, what do you think of it? I'm enjoying it quite a bit, and despite the fact that I don't know wth anybody is saying, the story looks pretty damn good. Also, how far have you gotten? I'm about midway through chapter 6 iirc.

I actually enjoyed 13 a lot...I havent played 13-2 or Type 0 yet though XD
I like most of the KH games I played...but they werent meant to be FF focused...since it was a joint sort of thing with disney FF type plots would be too heavy for the disneyish audience they are going for...that might be just me though XD

No, no, Aruko, your exactly right, that is a problem. But I think FF 13 is where I really lost it with the cornyness of it all.
