| But one thing I hope is that Square Enix won't screw up this classic. I mean, this game is hell great... But what if SE were to screw it up and destroy this invincible aura of FFVII? Based on what is happening, there is some possibility. |
In terms of Square Enix screwing up a classic, I'd like to sort of quote a friend. Final Fantasy VII is her all-time favourite game, (and that might even be a bit of an understatement), and she told me she was very disappointed in Cloud's personalty change, of-sorts, in Advent Children. She was also disappointed in the atmosphere of the movie. I agree with her.
Upon playing FF VII, it really is a light-hearted game. The game atmosphere is completely different than the movie. Completely. The atmosphere in Advent Children was actually kind of depressing, and Cloud's character took on a more serious role, as opposed to his sarcastic, "whatever", leave-them-be, anti-hero kind of attitude. My friend really missed that character, and I do too.
It's really just a matter of getting the atmosphere right, and I think that will be hard to do with realistic graphics, voiced characters, and new music. In hopes of Square Enix remaking this classic to be just what it used to be or better: Unlikely.

Ya know, they could release FFVII remake on Xbox360 instead of PS3....are you guys gonna get a 360 if they do? (I really don't enjoy 360 much but maybe I'm too crazy to get the console just for the FFVII remake)

I would by any console that released FF VII. But I'm still pretty sure it's not going to happen.

Dunno, it´s just a matter of business for Square, they know that if they release it for Atari 2600 everyone will buy it XD

I read that somewhere. SE denied everything and said that they won't be making the remake for PS3. But hey, we shouldn't give up our hopes

honestly, i agree with you completely on the character change and the atmosphere, the only problem is, after the events cloud went through in the game, its pretty reasonably that cloud would lose that whatever atitude, and after all they went through in the game, the movie was supposed to be more serious. and end to an end really. Im sure square meant to do this so for a remake, hopefully all they will do is update the graphics, and i pray they dont use voice actors. i just... i dont know. i dont think any could live up to the voice of cloud thats in my head, i know the movie sure didnt.

The Japanese voice for Cloud was perfect, and the Japanese voice for Aerith was "eh", but still decent. I can't stand the English voice actors. I won't lie. But I'm still unconvinced that they will remake the game. Especially with the demand for FF XIII games, and seeing as how they seem more under-staffed lately. FF XII, in my opinion, was a reflection of that, though I'm sure some won't agree with me. Also, in a remake. I think getting the light-hearted atmosphere of the original game would be near impossible-- I might have said that before.
