FF: the spirits within, which kind of failed as a sci fi type thing.
Then FF7: Advent children. Its the aftermath of FF7, but that doesn't mean theres any less action.
But whats coming soon....
I don't know.

I disagree. I hated FF X. The series went from becoming better and better and then when it hit X it decided to do a belly-flop. I played it for ten minutes before dismissing it as a deliberately poor storyline. Same with XII. I can't help but feel that when they release FF XIII they're going to have an amazing storyline, which will look all the better from the last few games dismal storylines. I can't really comment on FF XI since it's hard to give MMORPG's a proper storyline and the fact that I never bothered with it since it costs money to play. Perhaps when I have a job I'll give it a chance but until then I'm happy to leave it as it is.
Anyway, the only FF films are Spirits Within (no one liked it because it had an individual storyline which somehow set it apart from the FF series, known to have completely different storylines and world from one game to the next) and Advent Children (Square milking more money out of people by making a film set after the most popular game they made by adding three new enemies who were none-existent during the game with no hint at all of their being alive and throwing in a battle between Sephiroth and Cloud, the most popular characters they've created).

i must say Lord J at the risk of being rude(and please note that i'm not trying to be so if i come off that way i'm sorry not the implied msg. i'm going for) but from reading your post, mostly about the movies, i would seem that you are not to pleased with Squareenix's "attempts" at improving on things. Not that i disagree with some of your views, but i seems like your growing to almost hate them. I too have my beef with a lot of the games but not to the point that i would stop playing i have been a fan from day one so i hope that your views won't steer you away

So long as FF XIII actually has a good storyline, all will be forgiven. Anyway, I own all the numbered FF games (except X or XI, X I traded in for something better and XI I never owned) so it's probably more obvious to me when the storyline decides to take a plummet.

Quite an oppinion there buddy. -_- I for one thought that Final Fantasy X had an amazing story line that set it appart from not only the other Final Fantasy's, but the world it's self. To be willing to put youself a side and risk your own life for thousands of people that's really amazing. For someone to have to go and turn on there own religion, no everything they ever believed in and trusted all there life for the sake of so many peoples happiness, is one of the scariest and bravest things any one could ever do. And then to have to watch the people you love vanish before your very eyes when you thought it was finally all over and go on... That's even more amazing. And honestly (not to exagerate) but it really changed my life and the way I look at things. So please if you're going to insult the game at least finesh it and see the whole picture so that you at least know what you are insulting.

The fact is that it didn't have a good storyline. With the previous games I was able to complete immerse myself in the story but FF X was a metaphorical kick in the meat and two veg as far as that's concerned. That's why I traded it in. Anyway, almost all of the stuff you mention has been in previous FF games. Tidus is one of many mass-produced "heroes" in that sense. None of that's new to the Final Fantasy series.
To summarise, I'm fully aware of what I'm, as you incorrectly worded it, "insulting". Personally, I found the storyline to be insulting to loyal Final Fantasy fans, such as myself, who actually took the effort to obtain and play every Final Fantasy of the main series and some of the lesser series as well.

Is it a personal fact or a general fact? Try not to use the word 'fact' for personal opinions.
The real fact (you can refer to many game rating and critic sites) is FF X surely has a high rating, over 9.0 for most sites can be considered one of the best. In fact its the FF game with the highest rating (so far lol), in terms of graphics, storyline, presentation, gameplay, sound and enjoyment. It also has an overall rating. Its biggest advantage was the gameplay, people and gaming industry finds the sphere grid system is a major break and it works well with the CTB battle system (Conditional time based) just like FF Tactics.
Now we all know why FFX-2 is such state, for having a masterpiece previous sequel release.

Blah! Lord J... I hate to say this, but you're just really whiny. You don't even know what the games about. It's sounds to me that you saw the game and for the first time in your life you heard a Final Fantasy character talk and he had a funny voice because he didn't have a very good voice acter so you decided that you didn't like the game. I think that your problem isn't the game, but the change. Square tried to get a little advanced and you didn't like it.
All the previous FFs had words. So you could IMMERSE yourself in the words and the voices that you could make up in your head so that they wouldn't sound cheezy. In this FF you don't have that option. So you decide after ten minutes of gameplay that you didn't like it. A true FF fan would at least try to pick it up one more time and give it another chance. Just like I did with FF XII.
And G3N3 I deeply appoligize for the sudden straying off topic and bitter spats between all of us who were involved.

you cant criticise the entire game based on 10 minutes...you dont know the game so you have no right to say something like that...pls play it, finish it and then criticise

i agree with shandy spirits within was a good movie, it didnt really feel like a FF movie as such but for a movie it was actually good and i dont wanna say this here and get mobbed but it probably had a better story than ff advent children (which was mostly just pretty fighting scenes than a story)that is if you dont count ff7 game as part of the story
and how can you judge a game just from the start?XD ESPECIALLY final fantasyXD
in my oppinion 10 was one of the best FF the gameplay was good and the storyline is also one of the best. ff 10-2 is the belly flopper XD

I'm going to keep my post nice and simple because I'm very, very busy.
Final Fantasy X was a great game. Final Fantasy XII was a great game. X-2, not so great.
Spirits Within wasn't so great as a Final Fantasy movie, but by itself it was good. Advent Children was a great movie that just kept adding greatness to one of the best Final Fantasy games ever created.
