Euthanasia is the act or practice of putting to death painlessly a person suffering from an incurable disease; also called mercy killing.
(this is illegal in most countries)
i think it should be allowed if the person is going to die a long and painful death anyway or the person is going to be a vegetable all his life and the only other choice is to pull the plug and let them stave to death, it seems to me to be cruller to make the person live through that then allowing them to pass on in peace.

the terry chaivo case was a travesty
republicans didn't want it to go through for political reasons, while the hubby did want it to go through for monetary reasons
lawmakers shouldn't use that as a model

i agree with it beeing legal, if you were lying in bed in a hospital with cancer, just waiting for it to end, you can't speak, can't move, everything hurts, an overdose of morphine doesn't sound too bad does it?

i entirely am for it, great thread (surprised we havent brought it up before).
it disgusts me when people oppose it, as if they have any right to dictate what a person should feel and live through. if a person really wants to die, they will kill themselves; look at that woman with the tumor face at morningstarr* website (i look for a lot of different looking people and things in my spare time lol) - she was never going to live a normal life, just a life of saddness and suffering; its terrible she (and many others) are given no aid to end their lives in peace.

Euthanasia, im all for it too, i think most people will be, but the reason its illegal is because it would be taken advantage of.

In my opinion itīs okay, but only with the approval of somebody related to the sick person (I mean a very close relation, like his child/parents or so). I mean, you canīt decide for someone else, but if the personīs a vegetable I guess thereīs no other way around it...
Did you guys get to see the news lately?Some man was in a comma for 20 yrs and his family wouldn't let them pull the plug.They said there was a 5% chance of him coming out of it.It was amazing.That is the hard part about deciding whether to legalize it or not.There is always the chance where somebody is surely to spend the rest of there life as a vegetable and they end up coming out of it.

well, the most probable reason it's illigal is indeed beeing taken advatage of, and it's considered murder, the advantage part would lay in the will of the person...
they'd kill the person without him actually wanting it to happen so they can get his money and stuff...
so if you want it to be legal, you'll need to have 2 parties agreeing to it:
1) family and/or close friends, people that care about the person.
2) the doctors, if they say the person will be fine, then they should be able to stop it from happening.
if both parties agree to it, then it should be proceeded...
and in some countries they do it illigaly, cause the doctors know there's no other way and can't see their patient suffering, so they'll still ask if they can give an overdose on morphine

Being in a coma is different from being a vegetable. There is always hpe for comatose patients but vegatbles ill die once they are taken of the machines because the brain is so damaged it is unable to even send the nessecary signals o pump the heart so most are only mechanicaly alive if you get what I mean.
well the whole ''do onst to others as you would done unto you'' thing comes into account here does anybody want to suffer for no good reason because i certainly wouldnt. and I would rather have the plug pulled and organs donated then having to restart my life 20 years later. really keeping someone alive that long is a waste of resoursces time and money and is extremely selfish in my view
the problem is that you cant just make something legal. because that sort of thing is so different than any other. every situation is different. every hospital (as far as i know) has an ethics commity and it should be up to them, the family (all of them) and the patient if they are concious.
I have mixed feelings about the whole thing, on one hand i'd like to hold on to hope, faith, and reason. We are dealt our hands, and we gotta play the cards as they lay. sometimes that means struggling, enduring, and overcoming to get that which we desire. the good with the bad, if you will.
how many people really get what they want, and not what they need?

why you guys forget the fact that the government are not putting more resources for finding better treatment for this people and spend billions on space program that basically to find another world to live in instead saving this one ?
There is enough resources for everyone if people only take what they need instead of what they want, do you really need $ 1 billion ? but some people just can't stop ha ?
health care are not for making money, it's the same as fire dep and police, they exist to make live better, and you suggesting to kill people in this place ?
Once you give up you will get use to it, live is about never giving up !
