Europe and Australia launch of PS3 March 23rd
http://threespeech.com/blog/?p=264
Sony has finally revealed the date of the PS3's launch and price. It is £425 in the UK and apparently in Australia it is $995.95.
There are 30 launch games some just ones on the Playstation Network. All of the launch games are listed in the link.
Im not sure if theres enough consoles to go round. There is 1 million on launch day for the whole of Europe and Australia.

Yeah I just read this.
They say 300,000 of the 1 million will be allocated to the UK. and that only the 60GB model will be available.
There's no game that stands out there saying BUY ME, but the same goes for the Wii...Pretty poor. Looks like my PS2 will stay plugged in for a long time lol

Your probably right. It could go either way though depending on how people see the price. If the US is anything to go by there could be a few unsold consoles.

it does, the 360 is showing its advantage over the original xbox by releasing good games!

yes they have.. but it also scares me, because ive seen how they can screw up and get too greedy.
ive heard from many anti-sony fanboys that wish the playstation to be non-existant...
but that would harm them more than they think. i would rather have the Playstation 3 and the xbox 360 sell nearly equally. that would provide balance and encourage both compaies to innovate.

I agree with having both consoles sell equally. I think it will be more even this gen aswell. It gives better games which is good but on the downside you end up having to buy 2 consloes because of exclusives.
Another thing if its more even Sony will stop being so annoying with statements like the next gen starts when we say it does. Suppose thats always gonna be the case when your the top console though.

im hoping the shock of finding that it was their arrogant statements and practices that caused them to be on equal selling ground as the xbox that will bring them back to the sony everyone used to love.
investigating the sony products, their earliest products were top of the line, high quality, and deserved their premium price.
over the years though the quality of their hardware has decreased and are gliding by solely by their early reputation and marking alone.
each time sony lies, or attempts to decept me, i lose faith in them, and seek resources elsewhere. if sony would be honset, even on their downfalls, i would actually respect them more. with Batteries, DRM, Rootkits, constant PS3 features removed, system failures, system sale goals, all of which was handled poorly by sony PR.
the PS2 when it launched was a much more impressive machiene than the PS3. and looking at patterns, sony lied and underdelivered on the PS2 launch as well.
it would be awesome for sony to become a respectable company again. it really would be.

Sony probably did lie on PS2's launch but tbh they could afford to. There was no competition. Sega was taking itself down with the Dreamcast and XBox was a long way off launch. Its very different this time though.
Whatever PS3 does wont put me off buying other Sony products but I think the Playstation is the only Sony product in my house.
The one thing Sony does that annoys me though is launching pointless new media formats. Beta max, Minidisc and UMD's. All flops. When will they learn but I suppose if they get it right just once theres alot at stake.

i remember the PS2 launch, i was into the hype.
i remember the "Toy story like graphics" the "Online play out of the box" the "Revolutionize online gaming" the "operates faster than a 700mhz processor" the power of the "Emotion engine"
sadly i was correct in guessing that sony would do similar things for the PS3 launch. gamers should demand more from their console. not conform to what the console gives you.

I remember all the hype of PS2 but at the time I did almost switch to XBox. Just by looking at graphics and not games. I remember seeing that Abes Odyseey game the one for XBox and thought wow that looks good. I could have so based my console decision off graphics but I think the XBox was too far away. I also remember the specs being shown in stores and even then I knew PS2 was inferior. I still chose it though and it turned out to be the best console of the gen.
As for the Toy Story graphics I think Microsoft did that aswell.
The specs of the console is strange. Just look at PS2 a 300mhz processor by todays standards it looks pathetic.
I think Sony have got the power wrong again for PS3 though. Just like PS2 it may have some good games but will lack in graphics. They never give there consoles enough ram. It must be the cheapest part and always the most overlooked. I dont get it. Think its showing already as alot of screenshots have some real washed out textures.
