Editing FF9.
Ok, let's be honest here, no matter how much you like FF9, there's always something that can be done better. So why not be the editor yourself and add/delete some things in the game. Post parts of the game you would edit to make better.
This is more of an excersize to define for yourself what you really want to see in a FF game.
Remember: scientists observe and discover while artists complain and improve.

This isn't going to be very creative but whatever.
Give all the bosses approximately 50% more health, make Hades a bit less hidden, and give Trance Kuja and Necron yet more health.

I'dstart ogg by getting rid of that "happy ending". You know, the onw where Zidane suddenly reveals himself in the play like "I did not die". I was actually a bit moved when the vines consumed him along with Kuja. It's like some kind of "brotherly" act when Zidane, even though he understands that kuja will die anyways, stays by his side in the last moments. The "happy ending" kinda kills the effect and even makes the ending a little up-and-down.

I didnt have a problem with the ending so much I thought it was cute XD didnt really ruin it for me...I think I'd get rid of that mandatory tetra master game...it wasnt hard just annoying cuz I hate tetra master XD

I'd take out the chibi models. Damn I hated those. Also would make it so your trance would stay with you, like overdrive did. I would also make Quina's eat skill proc more often or at least raise the HP limit on it.
I'd keep the mini-games in as I liked Tetra master, but I would have made it a bit more simple as the rules made it kinda hard to follow.
Oh and moar Vivi!

Yes, is it just me or did Vivi's storyline get overshadowed by the whole Zidane&Kuja thing until the end? In disk 3 you kidna see him thinking about life and death then you get this big gap where he's basically tagging along (like everyone else). This made me kinda forget all the well developed character plots that went along with everyone.
For example, Freya was after Sir "Fratley" for half of disk 2, then suddenly forgets about him like he did to her (revenge maybe).

Cant remember about the Freya thing its been a while...but I wasnt bothered about the vivi thing...it was a sub plot...so it came up and went back down and up and back down XD

I really couldn't stand Garnet/Dagger... For the reason because she's a pseudo-strong female lead. I would have liked her better if she was a stronger lead character. She does step up, but then steps down again, like some sort of stair master...
I liked Armarant but I can't for the life of me remember why he was with them... Was he double-crossed?

At first it was to figure out how Zidane had beaten him. From there I think he just decided that life was more interesting when he was with the party, and nobody had a problem with letting him tag along.

I agree with Mabus on the Trance system point. It was really annoying that it was uncontrollable and sets off after the battles would end. I would also make it like the overdrive in FFVIII.
I generally didn't have problems with any of the characters and their storylines. I think all fans who grew fond of them would like to see more details in them, especially Vivi! But Zidane should remaind the dominance, he is after all the main character and would probably end up like Vaan in FFXII if he didn't have the main spotlight.
I wouldn't change anything about the ending as well. It wasn't an overdone happy everafter one. It was a bit cleché, but realistic in a way, you get something but not everything. I think it's perfect.
It's been ages since the last time I played it. I am attempting to go back to my PS and PS2 when I go home for Christmas

was it ever explained just how zidane and vivi where different and didnt die btw ? cos i dont remember and now its buggin me XD
i would have changed the trance the same as above
i would have liked it if tetra master wasnt pointless outside of the parts that where mandatory besides collectingh card or wanting easier battles there was NO purpose in playing no rewards like beating certain people for special items etc. which kinda sucked cos i do enjoy the card games in 8 and 9
i didnt mind the ending like flarey did it isnt like how they butchered the storyline in FF10 with 10-2 XD
i would have made quina and coral both more usefull either better skills stronger skills and even gettin quina to eat without having to somehow leave them with damn close to 1hp XD
and yeah vivi for me was the most interesting character i loved how he evolved his emotions and thoughts and i thik they could have taken his storyline further eve if he wasnt the main character
i mean i loved ff9 and it was my favorite game so these are very minor things XD

i think what happend with that is that vivi and freya where thinking about what they were going to do the entire time. if you can recall vivi brought up his thoughts in madain sari to zidane. and he did that a couple of more times. and freya i dont really know how to explain that one but it was probably for the same reason. But other than that i would have changed some things. i would change the synthesizing. i would have added more items and made some of the items to make it easier to find.

Thinking? I'm sorry, but that just doesn't cut it for a professional franchise. A kid's story maybe, but not something from Square Enix, especially how they sweetened up Vivi and Freya to ahve a strong story and really never fufilled what they were brought out to do.
