I actually really liked the junctioning system, especially with the fact that there were always hidden draw point scattered even on the world map. And I really think that gave character customization a whole new meaning.
as for making this a poll. Whenever you start a post, on the screen where you type in the subject, it should ask near the bottom of the screen whether you'd like to make it a poll or not, and also what answers you want.

it never asked if i wanted to make it poll... maybe i don't have enough karma or posts or something?
i was happy when i found the island closest to hell and the island closest to heaven
i'd like them to use the junction system again one day... once i got my head round it (because i found it hard at first) it's really easy to use and easy to increase players stats

i loved it, as you said, it made boss battles so much more interesting. Especially drawing from them as it makes it feel like you are gaining more than just stealing items from them..

liked it too ^-^ it was simpler than the materia system used in FF7...of course, FF7 is my fav, but using the junction/draw system of ff8 was interesting ^-^ as everybody said, you could draw cool spells from your enemy, even draw summons from them! ^-^
another good thing, you didn't have to level them up XD

coming off of ff7's materia system, the draw system was a shocker and i was pretty reluctant to embrace it.
buuuut. if you do a bunch of drawing in the first couple hours, it really pays off. way more than grinding levels infact which was totally awesome.
so even though most people hated it when it first came out and for your first time through it was pretty weird, but i loved it.
overall, ive played ff8 and beaten more than any other game so thats where i stand.

The materia system was awesome, especially all the combinations that you could create..
Like mixing Choco-mog materia to Elemental.. I didnt know that elemental based summons would work the same way elemental magic did in this instance..
What a fool i was..
But not this time round

I hated draw system....you know it would have been ok except for the fact that it makes your stats better...so when you use it the stats start sucking...which was crap XD

i enjoyed it XD it was different from usual (that being the ff7 system) XD then again, what you say is true rukie XD you just couldn't be short on ...i don't know, curaga, cos it...err...increased your hp....or something, i really don't remember XD facts are you NEEDED them to be strong XD while in the materia system the opposite was true

The junction system was my favourite easily of the ff games! No MP woo!
I found FF7 really expensive in terms of gil and buying all the materia and things, especially in the early stages of the game.
The only other system I did quite like was the sphere grid of FFX
