Do you every get the feeling....
Do you ever get the feeling that your teachers assign stuff just to mess with your head? Lemme just tell you guys first of all I dont mind reading about postmodernism....that is I dont mind reading poems and stories that are postmodern....I do not like reading postmodern essays on postmodernism....in fact I hate reading essays on any sort of literary movement because they are dry and call me crazy but I wanna be at least semi-entertained by what Im reading.
So its like this Im reading this 17 page postmodern essay about postmodernism...and then I come across this...and Im not exagerating here the thing is sitting in front of me right now.

Um...wtf? Did this dude just use BOTH things he just told me didnt exist to describe what does?
Is he kidding me? Shouldnt there be rules against that sort of thing. And just where does my teacher get off making us read this kinda crap?
So I made this thread cuz I know you...or most of you have or had teachers that assign or say the stupidest stuff and your just left wondering: Is this a joke? So by all means share and we can start a support group or a riot deppending on how the mood swings us XD

If you're really that bored, try marking up the essay, going back to your teacher, and just complain how bad of an essay it was. I get these things sometimes, but I often make the teacher miserable afterwards.

if you can start a good debate with your teacher, you may find yourself respected in their eyes, and the respect of a teacher can be worth alot.

XD yeah well I had planned on askin him about it and asking him just what in gods name that meant XD I just thought I'd give people the chance to go "Omg this happened to me this one time...blah blah blah" XD but I appricate the suggestions....well except maybe wings cuz that might have worked for you but I think its a little late to say I dont speak english...and even if I could pull that off. I dont think I should be in that class XD

well depending on the teacher of course, a lot of them are just kind of "going through the motions" now. they probably dont really like teaching or maybe just that specific age or whatever. in that case, the chances of them reading more than the first 5 or so pages of an essay on ____ topic is pretty slim.
on the other hand maybe your teacher is trying to get that response out of you. Id bring it up in class. read aloud the statement and ask the teacher to elaborate. maybe he knows its bs.
also, thor is right, if you can actually explain why something is bad then they have no choice but to reward you, either in grade or respect. for instand, i had to do a lit paper in high school junior year, and i wrote my paper on why i hated that specific lit class, while citing the terrible readings passed down in the cariculum that have become outdated and and, overall, not teaching us anything or teaching us something that is bad. I got an A on the paper and the class (the only a ive ever recieved in a lit based class actually) so yeah.
talk it out. either way it would be funny to hear you read that sentence aloud and have him respond.

in related classes shinanagens, im in a sign language class and its pretty weird.
we know the teacher can speak, though she is mostly deaf, but she specifically wrote out that no one is allowed to speak at all during the class. ever.
its a whole class of silence and im pretty sure our whole class is going to snap because of it. i think its like an endurance test or something.

Well we'll see what he says when I ask him about it tomarow. I dont think its that he doesnt care anymore....I think he just likes to hear himself talk...and it will certianlly matter if I dont read past the first few pages cuz on the last quiz we got there was a question on a footnote fgs XD
And arc that logic just doesnt work anymore...the more he talks the more I have to do at home...it doesnt lighten my work load at all if he goes on and on XD

Oh man Aruko I concur. I generally roll my eyes at people who try their hardest to just come up with classifications for everything, and practically throw out the dictionary in the process. They print those things for a reason! lol
I had one of my lecturers give us a mid-semester exam once. Wasn't too hard except for one question that, aparently, no one could do. Of course the general rule of thumb in schooling is - Once you have been asked a question, and handed up the answer you will never be bothered with the same question again...
So when we got to the end of year exam, oh look, there is the EXACT same question, worth 1/4 of the marks. We have names for people like that here. Deads**t, Wanker, f***head, poofter. Yeah no one likes him lol.

Bleh my teachers always throw questions back in my face. Especially ones people struggled on for mid-term they love that XD
I did actually ask him...and his answer was party what I already knew that by saying nature or culture dont exist only nature-cultures hes saying they are not seperate they are one thing. But I already knew this...so I asked him well why would you go about explaining something in such a bakwards way like that why not simplify it? To which he didnt really have an answer he just told me it was further explained in the next paragraph....which of course it isnt cuz hardly any writer is gonna go "Btw I know that pervious statement was retarded but heres why I did it like that."
So Im concluding that he really doesnt know why...and instead of saying that and owning the fact that he doesnt know why Latour(the guy who wrote the quote) is a retard...is annoying in itself.

Yeah. back in freshman year of high school i questioned my algebra teachers teaching method. he didnt really like that and as a result wouldnt recommend me for the advanced class next year even though i helped most of his students pass that year because he couldnt teach an apple how to fall from a tree.
