ya know, i can't wait till christopher and his son come back..can't wait to see if they bring the cavalry back to vindicate the aliens, or if their going to keep their promise and try and help Wikus. what social implications arise from district 10, and how the government/MNU handles the situation.. lots of ifs...lets just hope its a sequal worth watching.

I was along the thought that they were setting up a new movie to be released 3 years from now... lol that would be a long time wouldn't it... But it could be understandable if some of the actors had other projects and needed that time.

Really? I wasnt thinking there was gonna be a sequal at all...I thought it was just supposed to end that way. I dont think that alien looked so good on his way out XD I figured he died. His kid could come back though XD

..I dont think there'll be a sequel either. It was a good ending. It also had the "District 9 continues to grow..." thing as well. If thats not an ending then I don't know what is.

"If this film is successful, if audiences want another, whatever, District 10, I would love to do it," Blomkamp said in an exclusive interview this week in Los Angeles. "It's a very personal film, and it's a universe and a place that I find incredibly creative. I'd love to go back to that universe."
Blomkamp said that if audiences wanted something different from him, he was working on something else that would no doubt appeal to the same audience, even if the project went in a slightly different direction.
"I have another science fiction film now that I want to write for the rest of the year," Blomkamp said. "That, I think, may be the next one, and I'm incredibly into [it]. It's quite different, and it's a unique idea, but I'm very into it."
Describing the tone, he said it would feature a similar combination of grand ideas and great action set pieces: "It's similar," he said coyly. "I mean, it's a very different film, but it's a very similar genre, I suppose."
As for a follow up to District 9, there's an obvious sequel idea. (Major spoilers ahead!)
The obvious thing would be for Christopher to return to Earth in three years to help Wikus, as promised. Is that a possible story?
"I do have ideas rattling around in my head, and weirdly enough they're not to do with what you just said," Blomkamp said. "They're different. But, who knows? First, the population has to like [District 9]; otherwise, the whole thing is just moot, I suppose. But I would love to go back there." |

yeah i actually think a sequal would probably cheapen it, i dont know how they could pull it off well and keep the first one being as good, they have done that to movies in the past and it sucked
i did notivce they had to kill like what was it? 300,000 of them when moving them to the new areaXD
