I'd have to say that I like the manga best, also. But the anime is so close to it, that I can't say that it's not amazing. It is probably one of the best quality anime out there.
But seeing as we're coming from the artist of Hikaru no Go!, I can imagine that there wasn't much problem turning the manga into an anime. Both are quality, and my favourite at the moment.

the end of Death Note is a bit sad and very disturbing...
and its a bit too short, otherwise its just great!

Yes I agree! I was expecting to span over much more than just 12 graphic novels!
As for the end. I laughed. I'm not sure why it was so funny. It was harder for me to laugh at the end of the anime, though.
