there is more grown-up shoujo called Josei, but there's not a lot of good ones of those. There WAS one i really liked though. The english translation of the title was something about dried fish i think. It was about a business woman and her divorced boss who she ends up living with due to renting circumstances.
Josei has a different overall feel. It's more laid back and less, "We are young and innocent, so every moment counts and i have to pronounce my love loudly so that you may hear me!"
and there's not a lot of the "first love" thing floating around. Mostly just women with bad past relationships and divorced people. It's a lot more easy-going and it has more comedy.

Well you are closer to the teenagers issues (school, first boyfriends, your friends "drama" as you call it. XD) etc than you are to adult issues (marriage, work, money, adult problems etc). So I'm sure you relate better. XD
Though you would think there would be a better middle ground for people who aren't teenagers but don't want to read stuff so serious yet. XD
Don't you get bored of the same old stuff though? Or is there enough story diversity to keep it good?
I know comparing it to those "slice of life" anime aimed specifically to teens. In essence they are all the same with a different "hook". After you have seen a few, you have seen them all. XD

There's a good amount of story diversity. Though some things kind of get repeated, you can generally tell in the first few pages where the story is going. I know a few that don't follow the rules of shoujo (which is sad sometimes...) like Paradise Kiss. There's also ones that will throw you through a billion loops and make readers frustrated by having multiple guys that the heroine can fall for and still follow the rules of shoujo (like Hot Gimmick). In that case, there's usually different endings that are released so that everyone is happy. ^^
Really though, if i get bored with shoujo, i just switch to manhwa (korean). Red Lion was a friggin' good on. Very Very Sweet I now own all the books to and Snow Drops was ADORABLE.
Korean manhwa prides itself in not being similar.... like.... ever. Because manhwa artist isn't as huge of a profession as mangaka is in japan. So there's less of it floating around (meaning less stories getting repeated).
