chocobos rule and they have magic of sorts for instant the fat chocobo in ff9 uses magic so that u can talk to chocobos in the paradise
also they have a summon about them
there are no moogles in ff7 they are called mogs in it there is a game in gold saucer where it says stuff like male mog mogs female mog it isa name of a mog aswell
they may be similiar but they are not the same

Chocobos are definitely better.They have summons that can be very helpful, they let you travel across maps quicker, they have different colors, and have their own games.Plus they look cooler.
