You know when you put the kilika sphere on some pedestal and move it so it essentially sinks down? Well the destruction sphere goes where that kilika sphere is.

I never really liked using Gamespot (even though it's run by the same company that runs Gamefaqs and it has merged now). Admittedly I didn't give it much of a chance, but there's a mini-war between the users of the 2 companies. It should also be noted that alost all of their guides are actually made by Gamefaqs users.
