Cecil

I'm stuck on the part where Cecil first becomes a Paladin, and has to fight a Dark Knight Cecil shade, or something. I get killed really easily. I managed it once before, but i can't remember how to do it. Can anyone help, please?

Do nothing. Just cure when you need to. Don't attack.

Ah, okay. But i've found that the shade does more damage than i can cure, so i eventually die no matter what.

Oh no, the PSX version is the Hard Type version. Level up Dark Knight Cecil a bit first. It'll help.

It will? But you become a Paladin BEFORE the battle, so if i level him up as a Dark Knight, wouldn't it make him harder to beat?

No, no. Cecil's base stats will remain the same. The KNight you face is a boss with set stats.

My guide says this:

This is a story driven battle. The true natrure of a Paladin is not about aggression, a lesson Cecil is expected to understnad by now. Do not attack the Dark Knught or use any items. Instead, o nothing or select the Parry command every round. If you attack the Dark Knight continuously, it will eventually kill you and end the game. Hoever, after the Dark Knight inflicts roughly 300 HP damage without Cecil retaliating, the battle with abruptly end.

It would be a waste of items to use a potion during that sequence. If you would have use parry and cure, you wouldn't waste consumables.

I dont know if this helps or not, but I had the FFIV for GBA and it is supposed to be FFII, like you said.

Anyway, in that version i used some low level item that had white magic abitlities and killed him with it. i forget what it's called(some sort of arrow, i think), but I tried beating him regularly and kept getting killed. Then i used that item and it killed him.

If it killed him then surely you would die as well since that was your past self.
