Having good cards (strong ones like Seifer, Quistis, Zell, etc) promises easy wins for each duel but this doesn't apply when Random or Plus rule are in play. Even the weakest card can make a difference.
If you think Edea's tough, try Headmaster Cid at Disc 3 (at Edea's house) - he uses lvl 1 -8 cards (all the non-hero, character cards) with the same rules as Edea plays. Personally, I think Cid at Disc 3 is a good challenger (either to win rare cards or just for pleasure).

but the problem is, you can win so unbelievably easily. thats why I like... and hate the random rule. adds a little bit of surprise to it all, plus the sinking dread when you get five lvl 1 cards and squall. i lose him on purpose then
