...you cannot be immune to cancer...that means that you're immune to your own cells...which is impossible...

...however...if there is a way to mkae the immune system recognise cancer cells and destroy them, we would have a chance...on the downside...this increase in "strictness" would cause the rejection of any organ implants and slow down if not stop the process of evolution since the immune system would have to kill any "new" cells...

sharks are immune to cancer, you = wrong

...then I want you to just go and take a peak at the shark cells and compare them to human cells...

...if birds can naturally fly, does that mean humans can too...?

...I know I used the word "you" which now makes me sound like any idiot who uses it, but what I ment was "an individual"...

Hrm, after further research, scientists now believe that sharks may be able to contract cancer, just none have ever been found with it. I = wrong

Found some really good stuff, very interesting:

"Sharks, skates, and rays produce immune cells in two unique tissue sites that other animals don't even have. These unique tissue sites are associated with the reproductive organs and the esophagus, which is where the regulatory factors (the chemicals that send out the orders to the immune system) are created."

That statement appears to be about the only thing scientists know about sharks immune system

Good stuff Very Happy

...it's what makes biology interesting...which is what I'm taking in summer school (bio 12)...maybe I can learn a bit more on cancer...but I guess for now the only way for us to be immune is to wait for some person to mutate to the proper genes (whatever they are) and just let natural selection kick in...

Do take nanotechnology into mind, its another promising diagnosis technique to reduce the amount of cancerous cells and with further research, I'm sure it'll come to the solution of curing cancer. Things are being researched into nanometers range, perhaps one day our children will experience researches being done in picometers? And yeah, they're bloody small and it takes millions of dollars just to look at the structure.

Developments of "friendly" viruses and protein such as p21 proved that these nano particles can pierce through certain cancerous cells and disrupt them - reducing the number of malignant tumor tissues alot. Besides eliminating the tissues, these nano particles can also serve as a "marker" for surgeons to scan and detect where are the cancerous tissues exact location.

This intrigues me, we all this time have been searching for cancer cure "our' way. Why don't let the nature and other species aid us? Not all viruses and bacterias are harmful to us, where do you think those vaccines came from? In the end, we're turning into the nature for aid. Heard of green tea? Green tea is one of the known cancer preventive agent, there might be others..I don't know much.

For you case Mabus, though cancer does somehow relate to genetic..your lifestyle can change it dude. Food consumption, metabolism rate, environment, and awareness of your own health can change it. Heard of an island near the coast of Italy? That island has the population known as the most longest living people on earth, average age is 100++. Their food? Total bio-material based, not a single chemical in it and stew based.

Let me tell you a story, yep a true one except the person's name has been changed:
Sarah, a midwife lawyer has two daughters. One day, just like normal days she went to get her letters from the letterbox (it was raining). She received a small cut (her thumb) from one of the letter, it has a razor sharp edge (paper quality was good). So, just like normal thing - she inserted her thumb into her mouth and went inside the house. Next day, she woke up with her thumb swelling and purplish colour. Her husband and both her daughters were alerted to see that but she ignored it, saying applying ice pack should cure it in no time. But thankfully guys are stubborn-headed for once, so her husband insisted she go to see the doctor. At the hospital, she've been told her thumb has been infected by her very own saliva - and cancerous tissues has developed. If abandoned for another week, it could lead to serious issue. See the point here? Are you aware of your self? Of your own health, of your own body? Doctors can't tell how you feel, not even your friends, family, chocobos, no one!

Hidden:
Prevention is always the best way to cure a cancer, before you found out its too late for everything. Go for regular check-ups especially nearing the age of fifties.

That's a load of bollocks right there, if the infection was in her saliva, it was also in her blood stream unless it was introduced into her saliva in the last 15 minutes... and how did she get a mutagen in her saliva? Drinking bug spray maybe? That makes no sense...

A serious infection was contracted into the her thumb, apparently from the germs of her own saliva. From there, septicemia developed - a type of blood poisoning. This story was adapted from an article of a book I read, "How to safe your own life" by Marie Savard, M.D. Smile , yep familiar name...so I believe her articles are not bollocks.

I'm not sure how microbes "contaminate" her oral cavity in the patient's saliva, but I believe it is possible - improper hygiene practises maybe. You can google up articles related to early preventions and diagnosis for more similar cases like this one.

...weather it is true or not, the issue still stands that cancer cells are carried into different parts of your body in your blood...and if only a few are there...it is very hard to detect...so although your news is good...it would be very difficult to completely wipe cancer out of your body...
