Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
I honestly don't see why I can't find a thread on this game already. I only post it here, as I played it for the 360 and can't really say anything about the PS3 version of this game.
To be blunt, this game is incredible in nearly every aspect. The solo play is fast paced, and the game feels very smooth. The game looks incredible, and is a big step up from the first game, though the art style will feel odd and unfamiliar to die hard fans of the first game. Although the story is horribly short, around 5 to 7 hours maximum, it is pretty good. The story is a bit hard to follow at times though, trying to keep track of everything going on in the game can get very difficult and just not seem worth it. The ending is incredible. It really makes the solo play worth it.
Special Ops, awesome. I've played a lot of these missions with my friend already, and they can be very challenging. They can also be very fun though. I find myself getting stuck on some of the sneaky sniper missions, as it is really easy for the enemy to spot you when there are two bodies moving around. The missions can be played solo for the most part, but you will want to play the bulk of them with a second person.
Multiplayer, the only reason nearly anybody actually bought this game. It does not disappoint in any aspect. I haven't had the chance to play it online yet, but have heard that it has only gotten better from the first game. I can tell you that the split-screen has greatly improved though. You can actually level and gain experience, complete challenges, customize classes, perks, and kill streaks, all in an offline profile. There is a guest profile, but it may just seem easier to have some split-screen accounts on your console just in case more then one person is playing. The offline stats don't carry to online though, so no getting up to level 65 with a bunch of incredible equip and then hopping online. Although, you can use online classes offline, you won't receive experience offline when doing so.
Getting to choose kill streak bonuses is really fun and adds lots of diversity to the game play. That combine with the new death streaks give rewards in nearly every aspect of multiplayer, even if you are losing. All the new weapons, class customization options, and rewards really add something that was missing last time. Oh, and from what I've heard, dedicated servers!
While some people found veteran difficulty easier in this game, I personally found the game to be all around more difficult with only 2 or 3 missions giving me a hard time in the first game. It is still very fun though, and I'll make the run through veteran soon enough.
If you have a 360 (or PS3) and really enjoyed Modern Warfare 1 though, this is a must buy. Probably not worth it if you can't go online with it, but very worthwhile if you can.
Anyways, what do you all think about the game for those who have played it. For those who haven't, is what you're hearing about what you expected? I wouldn't say the game has completely lived up to the hype, but then again, a game this hyped never does.

Good review I bought the first Modern Welfare on launch and really loved it. However that game holds my personal record for losing interest the fastest. After I maxed out on rewards and such I never touched the game again. I am afraid the same will happen with this game, so I didn't bother getting it. I am sure that it is a great game, but after I completed "leveling" it was the same as maxing out your character in FF... everything is complete so you no longer have the desire to keep playing it nonstop on max stats and owning every weapon.
I owned the PC version, and everyone loved the Hardcore servers where one bullet kills. So a noob could spray bullets everywhere and you would walk into the spam and die without even seeing the killer first. That is realistic, but annoying too for a game imo.

For the maxing out the rewards thing, they thought ahead there, Prestige Mode. In the first game, you could only go to level 55 before prestige mode became available, but the levels go up to 70 or 75 in MW2. Prestige mode only offers an aesthetic change with your medal being the only thing to keep going up, while all weapons and challenges are lost. Personally, I'm not the biggest fan of prestige mode, but without it, some people would stop playing.
Although a lot of the maps from the first one were very open with few corners, the maps in this game are.....different. After playing MW for so long, entering these maps feels odd. There are a lot more corners, so spray fire isn't going to get you as many kills as you might think in a hardcore session. In fact, it will probably get you flanked and killed far easier.
One thing that made me sad about the multiplayer even though I knew it was for the best, they removed old school mode. Thankfully, people will have a harder time exploiting every glitch under the sun without old school mode present, but I really liked that mode when everybody played it the way it was meant to be played.
I would say you should just wait until it goes down in price a bit, but the first Modern Warfare still goes for about $45 used around where I am.
By the way, this is probably the most amazing throwing knife kill ever made.

awesome knife kill
in other news... i picked this game up against everything i told myself before hand. keep in mind i never played the previous MW but i do enjoy a good shooter. of course i picked it up for the ps3 because im not about to buy a new console for one game. that being said, me and a friend have compaired and it seems the same overall.
one thing i can say, i thought id go into the multiplayed and just get my butt handed to me but i was holding my own. that being said some of the single player missions (im about... 3/4ths the way through it) are pretty epic... but i still prefer uncharted 2 for single player.
also... whats the max people online? 18? is that lower than the first MW? after played a lot of the MAG beta, 18 players is a joke.
anyway, its a good time... but like fun said, not sure how long its going to hold my interest.
