boss battle to gain a lvl every tens -

boss battle to gain a lvl every tens

how about having to go through a boss battle to be able to level up?
This could happen every 10 levels (or less at the end)?
I know sometimes it's hard to kill a boss, so you could choose to temporary avoid the boss fight to gain more gils to buy a lot of healing item and projectiles to get ready for the battle, and finally beat the boss.
(in a similar way that after gaining enough XP you can choose between going on battling to earn more gil or posting to gain a level).

To my opinion, the bosses could be more difficult to kill.

Based on Malific's list, here is an apparition order :
-Darksol at the end of lvl 19
-Balbazak 29
-Durahan 39
-Abyss Worm 49
-Bowrider 59
-Ramladu 69
-Cameela 79
-Prism Flower 89
-Laser Eye 94
-Colossus 98

Of course bosses could still appear randomly in the in-between levels, without offering the possibility to level up... wait a minute...
It could be funny to create a kind of shortcut , like you are starting level 32, you encounter by chance the boss of lvl 39 and you beat him , so you jump directly to lvl 33 or even to lvl 40 Shocked

ah hell no....as an archer i had trouble killing any boss till higher lvl...and in adition if you want them to make more diffcult to kill itll complicate things even more...

what if youre not lucky and your weapon will deal damage 20 or less (as it happens to me waay to often) instead of the original damage and your spells will miss? youll be stuck and wont be able to lvl up

and as to buy tons of healing items and projectiles...im trying to save up money and dont feel like wasintg a bunch of gil on this

i dont like it...

Well the idea´s good, but quite unfair with physical classes, so I´d pass Smile

Anyway, how about this: do the boss battle every 10 levels (or so), but not as a must thing, and giving 2x the original gil if you defeat him (or stuff like that), just an idea ^^

I will try to explain below why I made this suggestion .

yes, good idea for a first implementation!

OK sometimes it's very hard to kill bosses and often i flee from them (as I'm also an archer like you Shandris). But sometimes I stay and "waste" a lot of expensive items just for the pleasure to have a good fight with a valuable opponent. (And I find it much more captivating than a boring fight against the Dark Sniper or Dark Madam ). The problem is : the reward for killing a boss is not high enough.
What would be your opinion if the reward in gil was 2 times higher like suggested by Malefic (or even 3 , 4 or 5 times higher ?)

Concerning the risk of wasting gil without being sure to level each time... Yes, that's true, but this would be then really a challenging game, no ?
BTW, what is the difference with a brave apple bought 50k which may give you one level... or not ! ?

Anyway, to my opinion, the fight part of the game is repetitive (almost boring) and it is there just to gain enough gil to enjoy the most interesting part of the game which was the rare collection, and could be also the chocobo thingy in the next future (or getting a special ability after mastering a class).
But the core of the activity remains the battles and I would like to see also something more interesting regarding this part. Spell failure is going in the good direction, but this is a minor change. I think that boss battles could do the job, but maybe the quest thingy would be better ...

i'm already writing on a quest, ask shandris if she likes it, and i'm hoping that someday it will be able to be implemented, i'm not realy keen on the boss battles to level up, because that would mean people who can afford brave apples can jsut skip it, as for bosses not realy beeing worth the trouble i agree there, it's more rewarding beathing a high priest or others as to beat a boss, though with steal abillity and boss rare items it gets a bit closer to beeing worth the kill Razz
