bored, gonna write the story ive held back for so long
i have inspirational moments and occasionally want to write a book. so ill just make a new post here every time i do (please dont complain about double-tripple posting.)
go ahead and join me in either contuing off my work or posting your own, or even just a comment.
Shifting uncomfortably from one foot to the other Ene drew the dagger from a hidden pocket in his sleeve. The object that he spent so long looking for was right in front of him, just within his grasp. Time running short Ene knew that the Phoenix Alliance would be upon him momentarily. a prayer on his lips he slowly cut away the bonds securing the orb to the stone slab.
"That wasn’t so hard." he laughed silently.
A musky odor drifting from the double doors from which he entered began to permeate the room, holding back a gag Ene watched in horror as three claws became visible in the doorway and slowly pulled the heavy oaken door open. He didn’t even have to see its face to know that a wandering troll was about to catch him in the middle of his theft.
The room was nearly featureless with exclusion to the pedestal and the moldy tapestry hanging from the walls. no way to escape, and nowhere to hide, killing the creature outright was not possible as he had no fire or acid to prevent its quickly regenerating limbs. Grinding his teeth, he realized that his only option was to somehow live long enough to get around the troll and run to freedom. That is as long as there weren't other trolls lurking about. The pale yellow eyes of the troll peered into the room, grunting as it nosily dripped saliva on the floor. The misshapen and bulbous features of the beast became excited when it saw the young human alone and trapped in the room. The crusty lips of the troll curled into a grin as he lumbered into the room reaching eagerly for the rogue.
"Common... grab me!" Ene shouted at the creature towering above him.
The Troll lunged and reached for the darkly clad figure. Holding his breath, Ene dived for the floor beside the troll and curled into a roll, the orb he was gripping onto pressed into his chest as he landed causing him to expel the air in his lungs. Rising from his roll he began to run, knowing that the troll was following close behind not wanting to lose a much wanted meal.
Racing down the hallway Ene ran back the way he had entered the sunken keep. The damp feet of the troll slapped against the stone floor letting him know that his death was just a step behind. He raced up flights of stairs, trying to reach the top of the keep where he would re-enter the bog which holds the stone fortress in its bowels. The many stairs slowed down the troll slightly and Ene taking full advantage of his slight luck put his full effort in putting as much distance between himself and the beast on the tricky ascent.
As the entrance came into view and his unfortunate predator a full flight of stairs behind him Ene smiled at his cunning as the troll roared in anger. "Voices" he cursed to himself as faint whispers came to his finely tuned ears. "Guess they found me after all." 3 heads came into view at the entrance; a fine red feather on the cap of each head, the phoenix alliance had found him after all. Here he was, trapped between the greatest assassin hunters known in these lands and a bloodthirsty troll. reaching behind him, he gripped his dagger strongly before whipping it past his head and toward the left-most neck of the Phoenix Alliance the dagger flew straight and entrenched itself into the fleshy unguarded neck of the Phoenix knight.
Blood hemorrhaging from his wound the knight fell to his knees; his eyes wide open in surprise and confusion. The paladins to his side shouted out in alarm too late and drew their weapons just as their target ran between the downed guard and the wall. Ene reached out to retrieve his thrown dagger, but the sword swipe at his neck proved more important, he leaned back turning to his side narrowly missing the fatal blow and pushed off the soon to be dead knight down the stairs balancing Ene for his retreat.
Eyes turned to their escaping prey the two remaining knights swore loudly with their weapons drawn. In their shouting they failed to hear the slow crunching noises behind them. A clawed hand reached from the stairs and grabbed the head of a knight and crushed his skull with nearly any effort. Shouting in fear the last remaining guard turned around in time to see his brother in arms torn in half by the gaping jaw of the troll.
Free from immediate threat, Ene stopped to rest. He lifted the orb from under his arm and began to look at the skull-sized object. It had translucent and reflective properties to it and was simply breathtaking to look at.
"I wonder why this is so important to that old wizard."
Quietly as to hopefully not bring any more attention to himself than a man carrying a shiny magical orb through a bog of nightmarish creatures, he made his way back to the city.

lol thank you, i needed that emotional boost.
[edit]
ill just edit this post later to add on the next section when i get bored again. city names will be left ambigious, as i plan to eventually group this into a short story and dont wanna be bogged down with a place just yet (gonna try to tie it to the Forgotten Realms)
Approaching the gates of the City under the cover of nightfall, Ene peered at the patrol along the northern entry. two defenders of the city stand strong and proud at the gates, keeping a viligant eye on the road and the surroundings nearby.
"I always hate sneaking into town" Ene cursed under his breath. as he walked along the edge of the forest towards the wall, just out of clear view of the guards. Approaching the guards from the wall, the conversation they were having became clear. the younger guard was apparently new to the city and was asking about dangerous spots. Ene slowly crept towards the keep door built beside the massive gate, which was kept slightly ajar. as he eased the door open a new conversation was happening within. an officer was having a dispute with another guard about wages and bonus for bounties.
'This isn't going to be easy' Ene thought to himself. he peeked through the crack in the door and noticed that both men were sitting at a table facing each other. giving the thief nearly no way to enter unnoticed.
'Crap! what the hell do i do now?'
time was running out, if he stayed at the door much longer he would surely be noticed. and sleeping in the woods until morning was not a very pleasant idea. without many other options, he set down his pack, drew out a vial and pulled the cork from the lip of the glass
"50 gold down the drain" Ene whispered
as he drank the vial he watched his hand holding the glass start to change in hue, and slowly become slightly translucent. he could see faintly the muscles in his hand and the bone supporting the meat of his fingers. it was nausiating and facinating at the same time. the body and clothing of the rogue changed to that of glass, slightly visible and unnoticeable.
Picking up his bag again he noticed as he gripped the leather of the sack the bag as well changed to become nearly invisible as well. taking a deep breath, he entered the room and made his way clockwise around it hoping to avoid the attention and eyes of the guards noticing the opening door.
Both the guards turned their heads at the same time noticing the fully open door, the officer stood up and shouted out of the door
"Guards! why is my garrison door open? close it immediately!"
the shouting was just loud enough that neither of the men heard the opposite door open and close.
the effects of the potion dident last long, Ene had barely closed the door when he found that he could see his bone structure and flesh fading into view again.
"Damn alchemist watering down my elixirs!" he cursed.
walking briskly to get distance from the city walls, Ene cautiously made his way towards the center of the city, towards the towering wizards tower that overshadowed the entire city.

The tower appeared to dwarf the other buildings nearby, the sheer vertical height of the building was that of pure engineering genius. Ene knocked on the door, peering over his shoulder to see if anyone was looking. the door opened and a dainty young girl dressed in red robes stood before him with a slight smile on her face.
"So you have returned" the girl said with a smirk.
"we thought you were dead or worse." Ene scowled and shoved his way into the entry way of the tower. the girl closed the door behind him.
"Do you have the Orb?" she asked eagerly
"That is only for your master to know" Ene snapped back.
Frowning the girl turned and ascended a nearby stairwell, motioning for Ene to follow. they came to the second level of the tower where it appeared to be a waiting room. Ene not needing to take a hint jumped onto a couch and waved the girl off to go retrieve her master; the girl nodded and ascended another set of stairs.
the room was wide and appeared much more spacious than from outside the tower, there were two windows along the north wall that faced the rich district of the city. two tables sat in the middle of the room next to two chairs that faced the couch that Ene sat upon. the walls were clean and had either frame showing the titles of the wizard or impressive looking murals. a few moments passed, and with nothing happening Ene sat up and started counting the seconds. a voice beside him startled the rogue "Ene my lucky little scoundrel you have returned"
Sitting beside the rogue was an older man in his late forties dressed in a blue cloth shirt and pants with a purple mantle billowing down his unusually strong frame. Ene held back his surprise at the sudden appearance of the wizard where he had just sat a moment before. uncomfortable with the seating arrangement Ene stood up and faced the wizard. the wizard merely laughed at the gesture.
laughing, the wizard leaned forward putting his head on his hand and spoke.
"Did i surprise you? i thought you could never be caught off guard!"
grinding his teeth Ene replied "You could never put one past me Adar. But you better not try that again old man, i can kill a mage before he parts his lips!"
not phased by the threat, the Adar simply nodded his head "Now now, cant we be civil? lets get down to business, do you possess the orb?"
frowning, Ene spat back "Do you have my reward?"
standing up Adar smiled and walked to one of the tables by a chair, he opened a drawer and pulled out a finely crafted blade that appeared to be made of a darker metal. the blade reflected no light, from certain angles the metal appeared to have streaks of red. it appeared to have a slight elvish craftsmanship to it but the elves Ene knew would never wield a blade like this, much less build one. Adar's glowing smile darkened while looking at the blade.
"The man who wielded this blade last died a horrible death. He was a proud man who believed himself the next king of these lands" Adar held the weapon out to Ene "This is your reward, i trust you will have the wisdom to never use it"
Ene took the blade from the wizard. a smile crossed his features and he felt the power and darkness in the weapon. 'This is the weapon of a hero' he thought to himself 'This weapon can let me do great things'
Adar was sitting in one of the chairs when he cleared his throat. startling Ene from his trance on his new toy.
"If you have the means, i have another item i need acquired. and i have another artifact that i believe will provide a proper reward."
Ene glanced up, he sheathed the weapon and nodded at Adar to continue.
"There is a mask that i need. it is ancient and holds great untapped power that i could learn much from." Adar sighed a little "its about 200 miles north of here near a small village. retrieve it and i may have another mission for you when you return."
The two men talked for a little while longer and before too long Ene took his leave of the wizard. it was time to rest and then head towards the settlement.

---- The Story Continues---
Eating breakfast at his favorite Inn "The Busty Elf Inn" after a good night sleep in one of its secure rooms was a pleasant reprieve from the normally hard and dangerous sleeping conditions Ene faced on the road. Finishing up his slice of ham he leaned back smiling to himself. It was mid afternoon but Ene found that he often awoke this late due to his night-time mischief. the last night he had gotten a new assignment from Ador to retrieve a mask.
"What that old wizard has in mind is none of my business as long as his rewards prove more valuable than what I’m taking."
Standing up Ene walked to the counter and smiled at the Elf working at the counter.
"How was your sleep and meal good patron?" the Elf sweetly asked in a tone that would charm the pants off any man. she leaned forward expecting the eyes of this darkly clad rogue to move down her body, giving her the emotional reward she seemed to seek from a strangers lust. But she found that the eyes of this customer stayed fixated on hers, the respect behind them was both an insult and a compliment to her stature. She straightened herself out and coughed loudly.
"That will be two gold for the meal." she said in a much more demanding voice.
Smiling Ene put two gold on the counter, the elf seemed shocked that the gold had appeared in his hand almost instantly, if she were a thief she would have attempted to see where this man’s purse was to steal its contents when he reached to pay her. But this rogue was too fast and too smart to accidentally reveal any information about himself to her. She smiled again; this man was clever and cautious, others could learn from his example.
Ene left the Busty Elf Inn feeling that an enjoyable journey stood in front of him. He approached the now open gates and waved to the guards who were inspecting the cargo of traders trying to enter the city walls. He smiled at a familiar officer who scowled back at him. "If he only knew how easily it was for me to sneak by his attention, he would arrest me just for insulting his senses!" Ene whispered to himself with a laugh.
Ene began to walk north along the road from the city, he lightly tossed his new obsidian dagger to himself to keep himself entertained and to hopefully deter any bandits thinking him an easy prey. The closest settlement was just a few miles out and Ene knew from a previous visit that they sold good quality traveling mounts and he knew it was easier to steal a horse from a settlement than from within the walls of a well guarded city.
The afternoon breeze blew cool through the trees and onto his face. He smiled and closed his eyes to bask in the sensation. it was ruined from the faint cries for help further along the road. Scowling, Ene moved to the side of the road, and began to sneak slowly along its border, trying to keep to the shadows of the forest. A small horse drawn cart was seen beside the road and the bodies of two lightly armored men. Beside the cart leaning against a rock was a merchant with blood running down his face pleading with three men wielding long blades.

"That’s all I have! Everything I own is in that cart I swear!" the merchant shouted at what appeared to be the small bands leader.
"It’s not enough! Most merchants have a hidden box somewhere on their cart where they carry their most valuables. Tell me where it is before I slit your throat!"
"I don’t have such a compartment, I hand built my cart myself and I don’t know enough about engineering to design such a box!"
Ene chuckled to himself, he started to sneak past, he wasn’t a hero and had no reason to save this guard as no reward would come from it. The bandits wouldn’t kill the merchant as greater rewards would come from leaving him alive if he didn’t tell them where any sort of hidden stash was.
The leader of the bandits put his blade to the neck of the merchant, drawing a line of blood across his neck
"Tell me or you die." he said with a cold serious expression on his face.
"I... uh... there, under the seat. I intended to offer it to a noble in the city to marry my daughter." The man offered with drooping shoulders
"So this merchant has a valuable necklace AND a daughter, Men, it looks like today got a lot better!" the leader laughed
"NO my sweet Isabel!" the merchant screamed
the leaders blade cut forward and cut through the merchants neck, blood spewed forth covering the blade and the pants of the leader and the head lolled back eyes rolling in their sockets. A garbled quiet scream issued forth but all it caused was for a few bubbles of blood to come dripping out of his mouth and throat. He limply fell to the ground next to the road. The leader of the bandits grumbled, pulling out a small rag and trying to wipe some of the blood from his clothes
"he proved to be full of blood it seems. Come; let us reap our rewards before trouble finds us as it found this merchant"
Ene stood there, seething with rage. Thefts were not of concern with Ene, but mindless murder of an innocent was. There was no reason for this merchant to die, not at all. Ene gripped his obsidian blade and walked toward the small band of bandits. They were all too busy to notice him before his blade entered the spine of one of the henchmen. A startled scream stirred the other two from their looting to look at the wide eyed fear of their companion. Ene grabbed a dagger from the belt of the man in his off hand, then twisted the blade and a loud snap was heard. The bandit’s legs gave out and he dropped to the ground in a dead heap with Ene standing in his place, the two bandits stared with mouth agape as Ene hurled the stolen dagger at the leader and charged around the cart toward the other henchman.
The leader got his wits about him in time to narrowly dodge the hurled blade which only nicked his ear. The scoundrel barely had his blade out when Ene lunged at him. Reaching with his blade Ene swiped at the side of the bandit as he lunged, scoring an easy hit causing a scream to issue forth from the man. Grabbing his side, the bandit turned and bared teeth at Ene. Smiling, Ene feinted a stab at groin level, as the bandit went to parry the blow Ene took a step forward and raised his blade quickly, impaling the heart. Roaring painfully the bandit fell to the ground dead.
Ene smiled to himself, as he looked for the dead body of the Leader, he saw a spinning blade heading for his neck. Startled Ene dropped the weight from his legs and landed hard on the gravel of the road. Painfully he rolled to the grass beside the cart and flipped to his feet, he saw the leader run around the cart and lunging at him with his blade attempting to impale him while Ene was off balance. From his crouched position, Ene jumped backwards and landed on his stomach in the grass. He rolled to his side and swiped at the legs of the bandit leader, cutting deeply into the flesh of his opponent drawing a painful scream and a gush of blood from the man who toppled into the grass beside him. Quickly Ene leaned forward driving his dagger into the back of the leader puncturing his lung deeply; Grass muffling the death cry of the small groups leader.
Rising to his feet, Ene briefly wiped some of the dirt from his clothing. Walking to the cart he sighed to himself
"They were dirty, filthy murders."
He examined the cart and easily found the hidden compartment; opening it he took the necklace and put it in his pocket. Promptly he went to each bandit taking the weapons they held that could benefit him. Feeling proud of his deeds, Ene briskly continued his walk down the road
