Book Suggestions
Must forgive if this is in the wrong place, but...
I need some help finding some books to read. Normally, I would go the library, browse, and take a book with an interesting-looking cover/blurb home to read. Sometimes I'll finish it, sometimes not. Does anyone have suggestions? It does not matter what genre. I am open to anything - adult, children, fiction, nonfiction, modern, classic, etc.

I just say hello at all times but that’s because I’m forgetful and forget what time it is. …and day. …and sometimes the month. I’m always confused at what year it is.

The giver is a good book. You can read it by itself or with the other 2 books that are... semi-related: Gathering Blue and The Messenger.
I recommend Battle Royael by Koushun Takami.
Not even joking. I read a LOT of books, and i can't stop reading it. Oh, and i don't mean the manga, i mean the BOOK.

The Giver was Ok at about the halfway point forward, but it's more for early highschool students in my opinion.
I would reccomend some World lits. such as:
The Sailor who Fell from Grace with the Sea
The Tin Flute
Therese Raquin
The house of the Spirits
Or some of these:
A Bird in the House
Dubliners
The Jade Peony
Obasan

here is thread which goes through a lot of good literature. A member named Lara and I (for the most part) along with stop ins from other members list some good books.

I second the Battle Royale recommendation and also Pratchett is legendary.
I'm currently reading the space wolves omnibus by William King, which is a very good book. Also the Elric books by Micheal Moorcock are amazing, read them...all of you.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I'll look into them.
That thread also gives good book recommendations, but seems to just be for novels ?

Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky
The Road by Cormac McCarthy
Samedi: The Deafness - author forgotten...
Right now I'm reading "The Dragon Book" which is just a book of short stories involving dragons, it's pretty awesome if you like dragons which I do. It has a few pretty famous authors, Bruce Coville, the guy who wrote "The Last Unicorn", some chick who worked on the story for "Neverwinter Nights"
Good stuff all around.
I'm actually trying to collect some books for this summer for poolside entertainment while I bronze :sexybuffness
Right now I have
Catcher in the Rye
1984
A tale of two cities
... I'm kinda trying to get through the classics. I might read Crime and Punishment again because it was that awesome.

Umm... You use book and novel in the same sentence referring to the same thing... What do you mean by book and what do you mean by novel? A novel is a book...
Here are a list of books (i.e. no sequel, not a novel?):
Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
The Rosary by Florence L. Barclay
Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert
Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury (Good!)
The Shining & The Dead Zone by Stephen King
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
Slaughter House 5 by Kurt Vonnegut
Kane and Abel by Jeffrey Archer
Oryx and Crake by Margret Atwood (not in the thread but I hear it is great)
Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov (unless your older 16+ or maybe 18 you shouldn't read this one.... Most likely your local library won't have it anyway)
Lord of The Flies by William Golding
The Giver by Lois Lowry (which I hated by the way... stupid open endings!)
House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski
Landscape and Memory by Simon Schama
Unseen Academicals by Terry Pratchett
Elric of Melnibone by Michael Moorcock
To Kill a Mocking Bird by Harper Lee
There were others but I didn't write them... Tried to take the ones you may like... even though I don't know the ones you like (you should list your fav's so it helps)

Oh, by book, I was referring to even manga/comic books/short stories (anthologies), etc, not just novels.
And so more specifics:
I am very fond of science fiction/fantasy, historical fiction and biographies.

7th Son by J. C. Hutchins is good.
