Storyline wise i dont think so, character wise, close but to cookie, graphicly it did beat 7 in graphics but gameplay was 2 awkward for me...didnt like the lvling system in 10 that well, i think they tried somehting new but it didnt quite work like they wanted it to...but i did like the fact that they let you switch members during combat

you can really say there equal because if sqare wanted to they could make ff vii with same graphics plus final fantasy VII has a more advance story than x last the materia system is also very innovative because it took job class to the next level in make a complete customization with diffent types i could name other but im in school so i dont have to time to get too deep

If you really take the time to take in the FF X storyline, however, it has a complexity of its own. It's the stupid sequel that had next to no depth.
Over all, though. You're comparing a classic four-disc game made for the PS1, to a one-disc graphically-advanced PS2 game. That's a bit impossible.
(Especially for someone like me, who has both games tied for first.)
FF VII and FF X were moth masters of their time, the first of firsts, and were both amazing.

Well... X is quite cool, and fun to play, but VII has got a tad better story, and characters...
X has got the big mother@#$ Auron, and Jecht
But VII has got Sephiroth...
lol, still I think that VII is better
