I watchd it again a couple of days ago in 2D and I enjoyed every minute. This movie is absolutely wonderful. I love it!
I noticed few things that could possibly justify why people “unconsciously” fall in love with it. I think it’s the first movie where humans are on the wrong side and they ultimately lose. Also, many major characters eventually die for one reason or another. Despite having a “happy ending” the events that lead to it are relatively sad. It’s more real than many realistic movies.
lots of movies have the humans losing and being the bad guys XD LOTS! XD
even have them losing when they are the good guys
and lotsd of movies also have main characters dying XD
although
i did like avatar, havent seen it in 2D yet
probably won watch it again, doesnt seem like a movie that is as good when you watch it again...
Though seriously if Im out walking around in the night to ASDA with the pedo/rapist/murderer/psycho of questionable sanity vampy....who do I have to be afraid of? XD

Science Fiction is not exactly my type of movies since most of them have no boundaries and anything is possible and that makes it absolutely ridiculous for me.
Aw c'mon. In all good sci fi movies they always use real science to explain what is going on, that's what makes me like it. If they don't they get hounded on the net XD
Some exceptions, like Doom, were a little on the silly side.
Just make sure you don't confuse sci fi with fantasy. Fantasy doesn't explain anything, or else it will kill the fantasy ^^
Sometimes the difference is a little blurry though, even in Avatar there are points when they explain the technology of the avatars for example.

That's what they say but I was pointing out that even Avatar had sci fi moments.
The only difference i see between the two genres is that Fantasy can literally do whatever it wants. Sci Fi is fiction too, but it has to be able to be legitimately reasonable.

Avatar is not entirely science fiction, but it was classified as such and that’s why some people think it didn’t win as many awards as it deserves. (By some people I mean a friend who is an obsessed Avatar fan).

That's like saying a computer hacker uses all sorts of crazy mumbo jumbo to hack into a network. XD
But yes some sci fi's are stupid. They don't even care about whether it is feasible or not, and they get criticised for it lol

lol she´s right...if science could really explain all the things we see in sci fi moovies, then why dont we have cars that fly, or our own avatars....because it doesnt xD
when I first saw the trailer from avatar, I thought: there´s no movie worst than it...only blue people running, so boring...plus I hate the non-people(not humans) in films xD, but when i saw it (my uncle invited me =D, so I couldnt say no)...I loved it, I think is my favourite film right now =P
