Anyone here own an iPhone or iPod? Need your help please
Hello, I just added a new Podcasting feature for the musicians on the Funender music site. I do not own an iPhone or iPod, so I was wondering if you guys could test to make sure that this feature works on their Apple device? I explained more about it in this topic:
http://www.f3music.com/topic-119.html
If you could post a reply to let me know if you are able to grab the song data and play it on your Apple device, that would be great. Thanks!

upon clicking the subscribe button in the link your provided (http://www.f3music.com/info-1981.html) the following screen comes up:
| Quote: |
.Mac Reader Error
Server Not Responding
We can't get to the feed you requested right now. It may be too slow or unreachable. |
Upon clicking the link on my mac computer the following comes up:
I then have to choose the application (itunes in my case). It opens itunes for me, apps the feed to my podcast list but when it tried to download the life Polybean it can't download it. It displays and "!" next to the song which means "There was a problem adding "polybean" to Itunes. The file might be corrupt, or a file that Itunes cannot play.
from my limited experience with simply downloading podcasts, that podcasts themselves have to be submitted to itunes and approved (much like the appstore but a shorter time)
It might work using some other program but it wont on the ipod touch or iphone as it stands now im pretty sure.

Thanks a lot bud. So this is the same process you go through when adding songs to your iPod and such?

well if im doing it on my mac i just open itunes and browse the podcast section of the store. click the subscribe button within and it takes me to my podcast library and downloads the newest episode of whatever it is. The other way is if i know the podcast has a website i can go to their site, click the download link and it usually opens itunes for me, adds to podcast to my download section and so on.
from my ipod touch, they have the itunes store on it locally so i can browse the store like normal and pretty much do everything i said above. the only catch is, the podcast owner has to have a podcast... subscription or whatever with itunes. then they submit their newest podcast to itunes, it goes through some kind of approval process and is then findable in the store itself.
What i would suggest, im not real familiar with the F3 music site, but have the individual artist have their own podcast channel and since the songs are hosted on your site, all they would need to do is then submit them to itunes as well. youd have to tell them all to do it as i dont think you could (or would want to with that many files).
its all free by the way.

Hi again, could you please test itunes again? I expect an error, but hopefully it will be a different error this time.

hmm... well. i tried it on the megular mac and itunes still isnt getting anywhere with it.
on the other hand, going to the site on my ipod touch, when i hit the subscribe button it no longer gives an error. It says at the top PNJA - F3music.com. and lists "1 total" since there is only one track.
it then lists the track Polybean and under it the date June 17, 3:34 am which i assume was the date it was added to the site. upon clicking the song title link it lists the file name and the size, 10mb. above the song is a big play button the length of the screen. pressing it opens the standard media viewer (youtube video and podcasts open with the same kind of background) and it says "loading movie..." and then it stops after about 1-2 seconds and brings me back to the previous page.
as it stands it wont play, but there is no error message and so far, you have been able to avoid itunes in the process so its progress either way.
just figured out how to take screen shots on the ipod touch so heres the page listing the song with the play button:
and heres the loading screen that doesnt last very long
then i get throw back to the first one.

Great thanks a lot for the very detailed information Well at least I am making progress thanks to you. I should be submitting all of the correct info so I am not sure why it will not play the song. So when you submit this info, does it get stored at iTunes, or just your own personal playlist? Thanks again!

Im guessing its private, as i can download podcasts from websites and add them as any other mp3 file without being logged into my itunes account, but to get into the store itself you need to be signed in i believe. (quick check) I was completely wrong, not only can i get into the store while not being logged in, anything that is free i can download with no thing popping up to ask for my account info.
the only thing (to my knowledge) that gets set to itunes is account information regarding actually purchases, or when you use itunes genius (which is a thing were it looks at your music library, sends that info to itunes so it looks at song genres and artists and stuff so that when i use the "genius" bar on the side it can A. recommend similar songs that other people purchased if they have something i have or B. i can pick one song i own, and it can make a playlist of random other songs i own that are similar. like a spiffy playlist maker.)
to my knowledge, those are one time things that i initiate (or schedule) and it doesnt transmit your name or account since its only looking at songs and the ID3 tag info on said songs. but dont quote me on that last part.
