yeah my YLOD'ed about... a week ago. just got my shipping label and im sending it out tomorrow. chances are they will try and repair it which from what i hear never works for long. such a pain in the @ss.

yeah my 40 gb fat got it. i dont think ive heard of slims getting them but its way too soon for that anyhow so i wouldnt rule it out.
the whole yellow light thing, in the manual, says it does that when the machine is too hot.
but it also means "general hardware failure" so you cant really even know what the specific problem is.

Well that would explain why I've never heard of it... >.> XD This room is extraordinarily well ventilated because there are 2 PCs, with dual monitors on each, a PS3, Wii, 360, 4 PS2s, and 2 Dreamcasts. So yeah... The room is ridiculously well ventilated, because it needs to be >.> otherwise we would burn the house down.

Well, the list I put out includes all the consoles that the household owns. The only one's that are mine are the PS3, one of the PS2s, and my PC. It's a sort of family gaming room, we have everything hooked up to some ancient CRT television that is incapable of actually displaying television. No cable, no dish, nothing. Just a ton of consoles. Sucks to be playing all of these new amazing games on an old ass 4:3, non HD, CRT... but eh, whatever.

well i mean, my ps3 was always well ventilated and more often than not had an external fan pointed at it anyway.
heat wasnt my issue. it just messed up.
and thanks egam, but i do have a warranty so it will be free. ive just heard of people having to send it in like three times and it breaks again like a week after they get it back and then the 4th trip they just send a gift card for the amount or something. i really am not looking forward to something like that.

I've never bumped into a case of someone who's had to send it in more than once.
At least not without about 4 months in between.
Just so you know, your entire HDD's theoretically gonna be wiped out

Hope you backed up your files XD
Unless of course, you replaced the old HDD with a bigger one.

I hate the newer gen of gaming. Seriously, I'm only about two steps away from restricting myself to PC.
You know, even with backed up data a good 75% of it won't work anyhow, because you're not allowed to copy it back on. There are plenty of savedatas for games that I've seen that are like "Screw you, you can't copy this ever"
PC doesn't have this problem, ever.
