Have you tried shadow hearts and shadow hearts covenant
the 1st 1 can get a bit slow sumtimes but i thought covenants was 1 of the best rpg's ive played

Any ff is a pretty good buy....Legend of Dragoon's pretty good...Primal was a really good game. You play a chick though just so you know.

If you liked FFX then maybe Xenosaga 2, though the story is incredibly hard to follow.
If you like action RPG's then I highly recommend Shadow of the colossus. That game is unique, and brilliant.
