Anyone getting Quake 4?
I know there are not many FPS fans here, but a lot of non quake fanatics say that they will check this out, so I thought I would ask if anyone plans on getting this game.

im torn.
i might get it for the 360 as a good game that will guaranteed run great and have the best graphical quality.
but then again. mods are amazingly fun.
hrmmm.
i'll probably go with the 360 version... ohh so hard to choose.

Get the PC version man, because third party developers who really care about the gameplay will expand on the game. BTW I bought this game eariler and played it all day long. The multiplayer is a disappointment and a downgrade since it takes after Quake II, but dude, the single player offline mode is totally awesome, and I mean REALLY awesome the game is amazing in the single player mode.

dont count me in in your speech, my bro was a first generation FPSP (first person shooter player) he passed his sickness on to me 
There was a time we played unreal tournament in sniping arena mod has much has posible, we would ram and slide the mouse at the speed of light and shoot when the screen was looking like a highroad lan going at 265 kms per hour.
.... NoT to brag or anything, at those times i used to win a lot by a diference of 52 to 49 or something like that, * never* *more* than 5 or 4 frags diference.
BTW FUN, i cant believe you r getting q4 im not  up till now all shooters came fresher and fresher, now its just reached a dead point after SW commandos ( i give it a deadly 10 out of 10 =)) im just tired of new shooters, i hate the fact that gamespot gave it an 8, even thought i havent played it yet (surely will anyway)
i saw the gamespot trailer just now before seeing you posted this
i think its like a copy of sw commando's gameplay/engine. >.<
I dont think there are going to be any fresh decent shooters for a while.. like 1-2 years....
Still starwars comandos could make a new game, or battlegrounds..... they are some of the most fun shooters i ever played.
ps: my bro played ev shooter game i know of, even the crappy ones (not duke nukem or doom, those are great, i mean other ones that n0-0ne knows), he even played casttle wolfenstein 1 xDDD

interesting.
if the multiplayer is indeed not as good. then ill buy the PC version for the mere fact that its cheeper.
and when i buy a 360 game i want to make sure it will last the test of time like Halo 2 has.

I am really surprised that there is not an insane amount of hype about Quake 4's single player mode, it is very long, and you fight huge monsters and there are so many cool scenes it is really amazing. I cannot even describe it the offline mode is extremely intense.

Just got my newest issue of PC gamer and there is a review of the game in there, I havn't read it yet, but that might help make up my mind. Of course right now I am still only about half way through Half-Life 2 and not even close to finishing Vampire:Bloodlines, so I don't really need another new game...but I guess I also don't need another hole in the head but seam to give myself them all the time so who knows.

Vampire Bloodlines was an amazing game. i loved it.
unfortunately i started my game before i patched the game. apparently when you patch the game it doesnt patch your save files so the game was unbeatable without out an area teleport cheat tword the end of the game (it would crash when you were escaping on a boat.)

fun... u got no idea how angry i am at u for saying that  (jj) i luv to play quake 2 in multiplayer.
The ONE game i hate in multiplayer is SW commandos. It really sucks, and the single player mode rocks like no one would have imagined..

btw i played the normal Vampire the masquerade. How's bloodlines? is it the sequel or the expansion. what's diferent?
ps: maybe the lenght makes you get inside the graphs fun, i played comandos so much now i just think all else is crap. maybe that's whats wrong with me XD

Yes Quake II was great, I just meant that Q4 is a downgrade. Have you played it yet? I am not the only one saying this, there are a ton of people who say the exact same things as me. If you are a quake fan you should check out my quake site:

naw sorry, is just that im not looking fordward to seeing any good new fps for a long time.
i think that ev from now on till 2007 or 8 ll be a copy from SW commandos or battlegrounds, or a mix.
Im the prob im just "tired" cause i think i seen it all.
ps: i seen the gamespot trailer, and ev seemed copied from swc.
ps2: I remember that q3 was darker, is q4 going for something like half life. broad day light but with explosions right when u walk by a fridge? (q3 was "it")
ps3: i saw my bro just downloaded F.E.A.R. and saw him playing a bit, its cool. at first i thought it was a lame max pain copy, but it's thought and cool, and it at least makes more sense. u should try it.

Actually Quake 4 is really dark and plain, don't trust the trailers since they are run on $5000 computers
