Angela's Eyes
Angela's Eyes, a new American drama that premiered in 2006, tells the story of Angela Henson (Abigail Spencer), a young FBI agent with the ability to detect whether someone is lying or not. She received the gift, which she perfected at the age of 14, when her parents, who were CIA operatives, were found to be divulging national secrets and were jailed for treason. For that, Angela joins the bureau, believing she could prove her parents innocent.
However, the past still has a hold on Angela, making her suspicious of others, and closed-off to her new boyfriend Peter and younger brother, Jerry. No matter how much she tries to right the wrongs of her parents, she must still face them, and figure out whether or not they may possibly be sending her coded messages.
Each week Angela hunts down suspects and solves crimes with the guidance of her boss, Gene (Rick Roberts), and her colleagues Leo (Lyriq Bent) and Dozer (Joe Cobden).
While Angela's Eyes follows the same format as procedural crime shows like Law & Order and CSI, like Alias, it captures viewers with its ongoing plot lines, such as Angela's relationships with her parents and Peter, and in addition to each week's suspenseful storyline.
Ultimately, although Angela's Eyes doesn't really offer viewers a new genre, it's entertaining enough for fans of the genre.
I, myself would have given this a 3 out of 5. The plot seems to follow many crime shows, but it still has the "addicting" feel to it.
