And the winner is..... Blu-ray!
| Quote: |
| TOKYO--Toshiba Corporation today announced that it has undertaken a thorough review of its overall strategy for HD DVD and has decided it will no longer develop, manufacture and market HD DVD players and recorders. This decision has been made following recent major changes in the market. Toshiba will continue, however, to provide full product support and after-sales service for all owners of Toshiba HD DVD products. |

I knew this as soon as there were more blu- ray discs than there were HD dvds. This is one time when sony is finally going to triumph over microsoft. such a sad day.

Personally, I can't see the difference between Blu-Ray DVD and HD DVD. There's certainly not enough difference for Sony to truthfully claim it's better. At least I know that Sony will burn in hell.

well, i mean the only difference as far as i know is that blu-ray had more space right?
picture quality was identical i think so yeah. meh. i dont use either fo them. i just thought it was funny that they just kinda gave up. thats not the way it usually goes i dont think. they just kinda fade until nobody uses it and so on.

Well blu-ray was always going to 'win'. It had a simpler name and was practically better in every way. I did hate how people compared it to beta vs vhs because it was nothing like that. Both blu ray and HD dvd were pretty much the same anyway, I was honestly expecting machines to play both formats.

Im actually suprised Toshiba gave up on HDDVD so early. As I understand they actually sold more HDVD Movies in comparison to HDVD players than Sony did for Blu ray. Only thing is theres 10 million Blu ray players in the form of PS3's out there. Still compared to DVD sales both were practically zero so id have thought Toshiba would keep going.
Good for me though I guess as my Blu ray player is my PS3 even though I havent got any movies yet as there so expensive.
