Lemme guess, the elves race turns to be agile and versatile as the Vieras? Wonder why they didn't continue adding the elves in the latest series.

I haven't played the game in a long time, but I am practically sure there were elves in FFIV.

Perhaps they didn't continue adding elves in the latest series because they are not a very interesting race; the idea of elves is getting too old Confused

Not in the PS1 or DS remakes there aren't. As I said, there are Dwarves but no elves.

EDIT:
There is a Dark Elf. Is that what you were thinking of?

Yes, that’s what I was thinking about.

I am not entirely sure though if there are any other than him.

I think he meant races other than monsters/bosses. Speaking of which, I don't see any of the CC races here (apart from Humes Laughing).

CC as for Crystal Chronicles? Hands down, I haven't played the game. Thats why I'm relying on you guys who've played those games like FFCC, FFI-FFVI, FFXII: Revenant Wings, FFXIII to share the info about the races.

I’ve already mentioned some of the races in FF:CC Smile

They're biologically different than humes lol, physically they look the same. They arrived on FF7's planet 2000 years ago, they were seeking for a planet with rich source of life and energy so they browse through google and found planet earth (jk abt google). So basically, they're aliens..*whistles X-Files theme song*.

Aeris probably looked like humes because her ancestors were mixed with the humes, god knows how the Cetra looked before...

Okay heres the deal. The cetra came to the planet however long ago it was, on their way to find the promised land when they stopped on the planed some decided to stay and make homes whilst the others moved on. Jenova a diffrent kind of cetra(the calamity from the sky) came some time later (but still thousands of years ago) and laid waste to the cetra living on the planet but was stopped and sealed away as time passed by the desendants of the cetra lost their ability to commune with the planet and became regular humans (confirmed by sephiroth when he says that the cetra who settled down were clouds ancestors and therefore he was a traitor)

Just some missing info...

Moogles were first introduced in FFV. There was a whole village of 'em in Galuf's world. Krile ends up getting one as a pet (sorta, it follows her around when she's at home).

Crystal Chronicles Races:

Clavats: Essentially, they're humans. They play the role of Knight in any group, with the capability to use swords and heavy armor. Yuri is probably the most famous I can think of, the main star of Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates.

Yukes: A race of...bird-men? Dunno exactly, but they're frail (kinda like Nu Mou), have feathery hands, and wear a mask that they are never to remove. More like a helmet, actually. No two Yukes have the same name. Yukes specialize in magic, using rods/staves as a focus for their power. They are able to draw "threads" from magicite to solve puzzles and attack. Ring of Fates stars Alhanalem, more often called Al, who ends up placing "-al" after a ton of things. "No need to take such measures drastical! I require a full portion nutritional!" He talks kinda like Yoda...

Selkies: More agile than the average human/hume/clavat/whatever you want to call them, Selkies are somewhat like Viera-Elves minus the bunny-ness. They specialize in bows and acrobatics, being able to double jump to reach places that others must pile stuff to reach. Ring of Fates covers this in a somewhat...odd...way. Gnash is the name, and he's about as far from your normal Selkie as you can get. He doesn't speak too well, but understands animals and is a REALLY great acrobat. Makes me think FFIIj's Guy, minus the buffness.

Lilties: Demi-humans is pretty much what describes a Lilty. They are short, but are just as good of a fighter as any Clavat. They specialize in hammers and ladles (yes, ladles, it used to be spears in older games), and can go into spaces that nobody else will fit, especially since they can roll under things in an urn. Lilties are also alchemists, able to blend items into magicite. If you blend magicite in the urn...KABOOM! It casts the spell made by the combination! The Lilty here is Meeth. She's like a second mother to Yuri and Chelinka, since their real mother was taken long ago (several years before the start of the game). She also talks a bit odd, adding -ie to the end of a lot of things. Meethie, Nowie...it goes on and on...

She also tries to cook a moogle pretty early on =P

This is kind of off-topic, but Ring of Fates features a spell-blending system. If you cast a certain combination of spells one on top of the other, you get a different spell.

Fire + Fire + Fire + Fire = Firaja
Clear + Cure + Raise = Holy
Fire + Blizzard + Thunder = Gravity
Fire + Thunder + Blizzard + Cure + Raise = Ultima
Ultima + Ultima = Ultimaga (what the hey?)
And so on...

Hope this helps.

Awesomeness Maxim, thats some useful info about the races in Crystal Chronicles. Lilties sounds like Gria, maybe Gria is created after them. The off topic about the spell combination is pretty interesting too, makes somewhat a materia battle system like (except that we mess with spells).

Some key points regarding the CC races:
Clavats were generally swordsmen, although with a lower defense and more combo attacks than the Lilties.
Nothing really to add regarding the Yuke.
Selkies can't double-jump in the original CC and use weapons like the rackets which Garnet uses in IX.
Lilties were more the knights in the original CC game and didn't do alchemy.

They changed a lot of things regarding the races in Ring of Fates.

EDIT Jan. 5th:
Lilties wear heavy armour and wield spears in the original CC games.
Yukes wielded hammers and only the Yukes in Rings of Fate talk like Yoda.
